BIT Pilani has received a massive donation from alumni couple Ravinder Kumar Bhat and Sumita Desarkar for $1 million-or Rs 8.40 crore-to be used as part of the institute’s ambitious $100 million Endowment Fund. This donation will help in up-grading labs, infrastructure enhancement, and research initiatives across BITS campuses. In addition to lab upgradation and infrastructure development, this corpus will help in making the overall educational experience for students better.
The UAE-based entrepreneurs operate successful ventures in entrepreneurship: Companies range from construction to trading commodities and managing events. A donation by this couple under the ‘Sumita Desarkar and Ravinder K. Bhat Fund for Institutional Development’ is a testament of gratitude to their alma mater to whom all the growth they achieved as an individual and in their careers are attributed.
This new gift brings the total pledge to over $18 million to the BITS Pilani Endowment Fund. Alumni couple says on this occasion, “BITS Pilani has deeply shaped our personal and professional journeys. We feel honored to give back to the institute that laid the foundation for our careers and growth.”
Thanks to my great Vice Chancellor, Professor V Ramgopal Rao of BITS Pilani, for this contribution, which will greatly enhance its activities toward furthering academic and infrastructural development so that the excellence trajectory continues to soar through innovation.
