What we are teaching is not required by the industry expert and not required by the government but what they require our school and colleges are not teaching. So there is a huge gap in our education system between requirement and supply. Also our education system comes under NGO and that is the biggest block of the development of the education industry.

Traditional education systems are struggling to keep up with rapid technological advancements and shifting job market needs. Employers today are less concerned with degrees and more interested in practical approach, job-ready abilities. This shift is giving rise to skill-based education, which is reshaping real-world skills like Critical Thinking, Creativity, & Collaboration.

The Shifting Environment of Learning
Education has been dominated by a focus on rote memorization and theoretical knowledge. However, the modern world operates on a different set of principles. Rapid technical improvements, globalisation, and an increasingly competitive market have demonstrated that the traditional paradigm is no longer sustainable. Companies today are looking for employees who possess specific skills that can be applied immediately in the workplace. This has led to a growing recognition that skills-not just degrees-are the true measure of an individual’s potential.

Skill-based education is becoming the foundation for this shift. Concentrates on specific capabilities that students can put into practice in the course of their future careers – technical skills, soft skills or entrepreneurial skills for that matter. Unlike in the traditional curriculum that only aims at training students to remember and spit out facts in tests, a skills-based training curriculum emphasises the development of higher-order thinking skills that include critical analysis and application of knowledge as well as how one operates in real-life situations.

Bridging the Skill Gap
One of the most pressing issues in education today is the skill gap. Employers across industries consistently report difficulties in finding qualified workers who possess the necessary skills for the job. According to a report by the World Economic Forum, by 2025, over half of all employees will need reskilling due to the rise of automation and the shift to digital technologies. To fill this gap Padhega Bharat initiatives provides skill development education, virtually in remote areas.

This approach also encourages lifelong learning. In this era, where the speed of changing industries is at its peak and is unprecedented in history, one needs to continue updating skills at every aspect of his or her career. It promotes a mindset of constant improvement and makes the person relevant to that particular field, which then allows him or her to adapt to emerging challenges as they emerge.

Technology in the Context of Skill-Based Education
Vision Pro, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are being employed to enhance the learner’s journey. In this case, they can analyse the person’s abilities and performance, suggest possible ways of study, and offer immediate feedback. Thus, targeted skill acquisition becomes more effective.

There is also an increasing application of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in skill training. The technologies provided surfaces for learning that involved a real-life setting. For instance, a VR system could assist medical students in mastering the art of surgery or training engineers where they diagnose problems with the machine without any incident occurring in real life.

The Role of Institutions and Employers
This has led to the call for such institutions to review their curricula by embedding practical skills and collaborating with the industry. On the other hand, employers should learn to devise their hiring policies based on core competencies rather than academic papers which will enable them to hire a variety of people. In addition, employers should also provide regular training programs for their employees for them to remain relevant.

Empowering Individual
This kind of education will be transformative, particularly for underserved communities. Accessible learning pathways, providing chances to people who may not have the opportunity to pursue traditional education. Jagoo Nari Federation an NGO is is empowering people by providing computer and mobile repairing related skill development training programs for women.

The Advancement of Education
Education in the future will be skill-orientated, and this will enable individuals to be innovative and creative towards development and change in the world. For instance, with skill-based education, the gap between education and employment can be reduced and more so, a time when everybody will be empowered to thrive will be achieved.

As the world evolves, skill-based education holds the key to a brighter, more inclusive future.
