The British Council, an international organization in the UK, has unveiled its new initiative: Climate Futures: South Asia. It is a cross-disciplinary arts project aimed at preparing the arts and cultural sector of South Asia for the profound implications that result from climate change. Through the programme, grants worth £15,000 will be given to artists and organizations across India who come up with new projects towards sustainability and environmental awareness in India.
The project aims to bring innovative collaborations to the forefront as far as tackling the climate crisis through artistic expression is concerned. The scheme is set to support proposals that cover curating aesthetic experiences to create awareness about the climate crisis, designing decarbonisation plans in arts organizations, and laying down measures for carbon accounting and waste minimization.
The British Council will conduct information sessions on 8th and 22nd of October. These information sessions will take place at 10 GMT. They will provide prospective applicants with hints for filling the applications and also advice on how to build up prospects of receiving funding.
The interested applicants could apply up to November 25 through bit.ly/CF_Applynow to improve the integration of sustainability into their creative practices and provide for international collaborations. Application is ongoing.
