Delhi Students to Get Hands-On Vocational Training in Germany

Share

Delhi government, in a major move to upgrade technical skills and global opportunities for its students, has collaborated with the Goethe Institute and top German industries to launch dual vocational training in Germany. This is for the class 12 passed students in an effort that gives them the opportunity to acquire advanced skills and an experience on the job in some of Germany’s most excellent industries. The initiative was announced by making public a statement on Tuesday.

The project forms part of the broader ‘APAL’ which promotes inter-school educational exchange in Latin America, India, and Uzbekistan. It will facilitate their students to benefit from the high-quality German dual vocational training program which spans 3.5 years. Students will thus acquire technical education with hands-on experience in Germany’s key industries when they train together.

The program was thus laid two years back through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Delhi government and German Embassy. This MoU aimed at bringing in the quality of education in Delhi government schools by introducing German languages in the curriculum and opening pathways for international training.
An orientation session to this project was conducted at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, West Vinod Nagar, on Tuesday. Appearing before the gathering, AAP leader Manish Sisodia wanted to express pride in the progress of the initiative. “I feel proud that the step we took two years ago in partnership with the German Embassy has now reached a stage where German industry is willing to invite our students,” said Sisodia. He cited the fact as an important milestone in rendering the educational area of government schools in Delhi better than world class.

“This will open up global opportunities for our students, and this will bring quality education in Delhi government schools to a new level. We want children from all sectors, including those from government schools, to receive the kind of world-class education and training these institutions will provide,” Sisodium said.

The vocational training will allow the students of a Delhi government school to gain advanced technical skills, combined with getting an experience of the professional environment of the leading German industries. It would, therefore, prepare them in the spirit of competing with the global market and at the same time open up options for seeking careers in various sectors-besides engineering sectors, manufacturing sectors, or technology.

The collaboration with the Goethe Institute has also helped the German language gain a space in the syllabus of the government schools of Delhi. Currently, 30 government schools teach German to nearly 4,500 students. This has created more avenues for students to learn the language, paving a foundation for those who will eventually undergo the dual training program.

As this collaboration continues to evolve, the Delhi government remains firm in its stance of offering education at an international level and wealth of opportunities across the globe through which students could achieve their objectives in both the home country as well as abroad. The dual vocational training program in Germany is one such promise that could provide a way forward for students to acquire the latest skills from German territory while indeed opening up doors towards international employment opportunities.
