Experts Reveal How to Tackle the Biggest Challenges Facing Today’s Children

Share

Gone are the days when experts and teachers talked about fun activities in the form of drawing competitions, essay writing, and others to celebrate Children’s Day every year on November 14. Today, we are more concerned about the mental well-being of children as they face critical challenges that need to be addressed on an immediate basis. Let’s read what experts have to share on how to combat the challenges when dealing with the new generation of kids.

Raj Singhal, Co-founder & CEO of Footprints Childcare
Today’s children face critical challenges that require immediate action. Globally, 244 million are out of school, and many lack internet access, widening educational gaps, especially in disadvantaged communities. Mental health issues affect up to 20% of children, but support remains limited. Additionally, 1 billion children are at risk from climate change, including pollution and displacement. With the rise of AI and digital platforms, protecting children’s privacy and mental health is crucial. We must build a world where every child is safe, supported, and able to thrive.”

Manish Rastogi, CEO, Zee Learn
This Children Day we should remind ourselves of our shared responsibility to create learning spaces prioritising resilience, emotional intelligence, and balanced development. Today’s children face a unique blend of challenges that past generations could scarcely imagine—from navigating a hyper-digital world to coping with intense academic pressures and the mental toll of competitive environments. It’s essential that we foster an education system that nurtures both their intellectual growth and emotional well-being. As educators, parents, and a society, we must champion approaches that equip children not only with knowledge but with the life skills, empathy, and adaptability they need to thrive holistically and shape a brighter, more inclusive future.

Geeta Sachdeva, Director of School Administration and Operations, Excelsior American School
Excelsior American School’s philosophy is based on the principle that each child will achieve their personal best in all areas of their development! Children are like flowers; they blossom when nourished with love and care. We firmly believe that each child has qualities that will help the child to become like a sweet-smelling flower so that he/she can add value to environment around them. It is important for all children to acquire skills that will help them survive and grow in the society. It is also equally important for them to help the society grow along with their individual growth. And that is why we encourage our learners to be intellectually curious and morally strong.

Our learners get a unique opportunity to truly engage with and learn from others who may be different in myriad ways, including national origin, socioeconomic class, race, ethnicity, or disability status.  As they are gently nudged to grow into responsible and compassionate global citizens, the school emphasises on every learner being honest, fair and ethical. Their confidence in their own convictions will give them the courage to stand up for what is correct as they face the tough challenges of today’s competitive world.

A child’s school should be an extension of their family, providing a safe environment in which they can explore ideas and feelings. The Excelsior family wishes all the children a very Happy Children’s Day!!
