GGSIPU Turns 25: Transforming Dreams into Global Achievements

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) marked the culmination of its Silver Jubilee celebrations with the unveiling of its new logo, the release of silver jubilee postal stamp, commemorative silver coin and the launch of the university’s strategic vision document, Vision@2047 Roadmap.* The occasion also saw the announcement of a Dual Degree program in Master of Science in Digital Production for Sustainable Manufacturing, in collaboration with AGH University of Krakow, Poland, and plans to establish GGSIPU’s offshore campus in the Republic of Guinea. The event was graced by Lt. Governor of Delhi, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, Principal Secretary to the LG, Shri Ashish Kundra and Ms. Nandini Paliwal, Secretary for Higher Education.

Addressing the gathering, Lt. Governor of Delhi, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, commended the remarkable journey of GGSIPU over the past 25 years. He said that the university has become a beacon of hope for students and a hub for pioneering academic initiatives. He appreciated the efforts toward creating global partnerships and emphasized the importance of prioritizing societal welfare and Indian Knowledge System. Quoting from the life of Guru Gobind Singh, he encouraged students to embrace values of wisdom, courage and justice.

Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor GGSIPU, highlighted the growth of the University. He said that the university has grown exponentially, now offering 190 academic programs across 40 disciplines to over 1.13 lakh students. He shared the university’s latest initiatives, including the sports quota, single-girl child seats, vice chancellor internship program and an incubation fund to promote innovation.
He added that the newly announced Dual Degree program with AGH University of Krakow offers students with the opportunity to pursue two semesters in Poland and two semesters in India. Importantly, students will only pay the Indian fee for the program, making international education accessible.

Several infrastructure projects were inaugurated during the ceremony, including an *Amphitheatre with a capacity to host 1,000 students, a health center and a guest house for visiting faculty. Facilities such as an *Industrial Robotics Lab, a state-of-the-art TV studio, community radio station and an extension counter of Indian Bank at the East Campus were also launched. Additionally, Silver Jubilee souvenirs were also unveiled.

The celebrations featured an academic and research exhibition alongside a ‘Hunar Haat’ showcasing the creative talents of the artisans. Former Vice Chancellors Prof. K.K. Aggarwal and Prof. D.K. Bandyopadhyay were felicitated for their contributions to the university’s legacy.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kamal Pathak, Registrar of the university, who expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries, students, and faculty for their contributions toward shaping the university’s illustrious legacy.
