Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Shri K. Sanjay Murthy and Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, Shri Sanjay Kumar jointly chaired a strategic meeting today as part of a major step to building educational leadership and teacher quality. Capacity building of principals and teachers continued to be the central focus of this PM SHRI initiative. The effort was meant to be access to professional development through collaborations with institutions placed at the top-most tier of the country: IIMs, IITs, NITs, and Central Universities.
It is experiential learning and hands-on teaching methodologies as envisioned under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The participation of senior officials from the Ministry of Education further brought along a commitment from the government towards increasing the standards in education.
Focus on Experiential Learning and STEM
The experiential learning approach forms an apex of the initiative. There needs to be teacher training into innovative, student-centered pedagogies that foster creativity and critical thinking. The NEP of 2020 emphasizes the importance of STEM education – preparing students to face future challenges with problem-solving and collaborative learning.
Role by Premier Institutes
The IIMs and IITs will offer partnerships that provide professional leaders and teachers with more contemporary learning. These partnerships will infuse educational leadership pipelines and enhance STEM teaching.
The program will make the classroom a lively learning space in which innovation is fostered, and a crucial area for the preparation of modern skills relevant to students in the 21st century. Empowering educators facilitates a sustainable, high-quality education system.
