Nine additional schools in Basti have been nominated under the PM SHRI scheme for 2024-25, raising the total to 22. The scheme aims to enhance education infrastructure and provide holistic learning opportunities to students across the district.

Total schools thus now reach 22 number.

It is a strong boost to the education infrastructure in Basti as nine schools from the district have been shortlisted under the ambitious PM SHRI scheme for the year 2024–25. The PM SHRI scheme, recently announced by the Government of India, aims to reshape the landscape of learning environments across the nation by reshaping this centrally sponsored initiative to alter schools and reach every student with quality educational access opportunities in all walks of life.

Under the same scheme, earlier 13 schools were selected from Basti. Now, adding nine to the previous school, the PM SHRI now covers 22 schools. The dream is to metamorphose these schools into vibrant institutions that can cater to holistic and diverse learning experiences so that every student benefits from proper facilities and resources to excel academically.

Infrastructure Building.

The PM SHRI scheme targets the rejuvenation of schools in all the states of India through reequipping them with the physical infrastructure and academic support that the high-quality education system requires. In the case of Basti, for this scheme, the selected structure is the one comprising primary, upper primary, and composite schools, which would upgrade the underperformed schools majorly. The central government has allocated a sum of two crore rupees to each school for rejuvenation purposes.

The available funds would be utilized for upgrading basic infrastructure facilities, which would make the learning environment more suitable and comfortable for students. One school would be identified in every single one of the nine blocks of Basti district to ensure the right implementation of facilities of the scheme in all the corners of the district. It ensures equal progress; none should fall behind-not a student, not a region.

Upgrades and Facilities to be Developed in Schools

A special emphasis by PM SHRI on upgrading the infrastructural facilities available in schools, both physical and academic. There are proposals underway to add a new classroom that would help increase the intake of students; science and chemistry laboratories to implement practical experiments; and computer rooms to support digitally driven learning aids.

Libraries will also be provided or upgraded in these schools, to bring about the culture of reading and learning. Schools will be provided with laboratory equipment for practical learning purposes in science and technology subjects. Besides, art and craft rooms will be established to nurture creativity among students while introducing kitchen gardens as a green initiative, with the purpose of spreading sustainability and nutritional knowledge among the students.

Upgrades for the schools’ sports facilities will also be undertaken. Improvements on playgrounds will promote physical activity and holistic development in students. The institution will be made an eco-friendly and energy-efficient environment by putting up solar panels. Focus is given to infrastructure for students with special needs, including toilets that are accessible to all, especially to the ones who need it most-the disabled.

Comprehensive Development of Schools

The PM SHRI scheme reflects the commitment of the government towards holistic education by focusing on both academic as well as non-academic areas of development. This includes improvements in infrastructure and resources for activities such as art, sports, and vocational training, with the aim of having well-rounded students who can be equipped to succeed in this world.

The PM SHRI school is supposed to become a model school and inspire all the schools in the district and the country. With these programs, the youth of Basti will be prepared through a holistic education, modern infrastructures, the latest technology, and a learning growth environment.

With persistent focus on education, PM SHRI is a testament to their vision of inclusive and equitable development- every child in a place, irrespective of where the place is or the background of that particular location, should have quality education. Improvement in schools under Basti undoubtedly will add up to the education uptilment in the district while making a more capable student in academics and society.
