A big boost to higher education in the country, the Uttar Pradesh Government has sanctioned the first-generation AI-integrated campus of Chandigarh University in Unnao. The official sanction letter was handed over to officials of Chandigarh University by Yogendra Upadhyaya, Cabinet Minister for Higher Education of Uttar Pradesh, on September 19.

The new campus will come up at Parsandan village of the Hasanganj tehsil, strategically located on the Lucknow-Kanpur highway. The new campus of 63.53 acres comes under the State Capital Region (ACR)-like Lucknow and the adjacent districts-the model will be on similar lines as in Delhi National Capital Region (NCR).

This will be the first AI-integrated futuristic campus in India, said Chandigarh University director Jai Inder Singh Sandhu. The campus is scheduled to begin its operations from the upcoming academic session of 2025-26 with an endeavor to offer innovative educational opportunities to students.”.

Sources indicate that 45 futuristic courses across five disciplines-Engineering, Business Management, Computer Science, Health and Liberal Arts-will find a place at the curriculum offered at the Unnao campus. This wide range of programs will cut across engineering, business management, computer science, health, and liberal arts to arm the students with skills relevant to the demand of an aggressively evolving job market.

According to him, this campus establishment would add up to access high-quality education for students in the state. He was optimistic about the potential impact that this effort would make on local students, who could pursue advanced studies and induced innovation culture in the region.

Uttar Pradesh is soon to undergo a sea change in its educational landscape, as Chandigarh University is going to be the forerunner in adopting artificial intelligence for higher education with the AI-integrated campus soon.
