With a new academic year, Delhi University has rolled out stringent anti-ragging measures to ensure the safety of its students amidst growing concerns about ragging-related incidents at educational institutes. It is said to make an amicable environment for every student.

They can call the UGC Anti-Ragging Helpline on the toll-free number 1800-180-5522 or email them at, [email protected], through the anti-ragging website or by approaching local police. The multi-channel approach clearly tries to make it easier and easier for any student who feels vulnerable or intimidated.
Severe Punishments Await the Guilty

Proactive Measures and Awareness Campaigns
The Proctorial Board had a meeting on July 25 as a pre-emptive measure to deliberate and decide on such anti-ragging policies. A two-page notice announcing 11 anti-ragging measures was issued on July 26, which has made it compulsory that all students and hostel residents, as well as their parents or guardians, sign an anti-ragging pledge as part of the enrolment process.
This will be further supplemented by the celebration of Anti-Ragging Day on August 12 and Anti-Ragging Week from August 12 to August 18, which will serve as an eye-opener for students to be more careful from the dangers and consequences of ragging and the university’s zero-tolerance stance .
Improved Security Measures
In addition to strengthening security in the campus, two unified control centres— one each on North and South campuses— would be established. They would form instant response teams if any ragging incident is reported. Police deployment would be increased with plainclothes female police patrolling the premises— especially around women’s institutions.
Anti-ragging posters in English and Hindi have been put up at suitable places across the campuses to bring the policies of the university to the notice of students. Principals of colleges and hostel authorities have been asked to restrict the entry of outsiders and display anti-ragging rules prominently

Community Involvement
Every college, department, and hostel has to constitute Anti-Ragging/Disciplinary Committees and Vigilance Squads. These teams shall keep a close watch over the students’ behavior and inform the authorities of any suspicious movements; each team of volunteers will be drawn from NCC and NSS .
With these comprehensive measures in place at Delhi University, it can be said that concrete steps have been taken to ensure a safe, congenial environment for all its students—perhaps setting an example for other institutions to follow.
