GGSIPU Celebrates Teachers’ Day, Honours Faculty Excellence

Teachers Day was observed at GGSIPU with much fanfare and recognising the services of faculty members. Dr Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi, and a former faculty of GGSIPU was honoured with a supreme award of ‘Shikshak Padak’. In all, 30 teachers were recognised for their exemplary research work with ‘Faculty Research Award’.
Speaking on the occasion, Padma Shri Prof (Dr) Mahesh Verma said, “Teaching is the mother of all professions. Most of the time, teachers remain unsung heroes. A true teacher possesses many attributes, as they provide information, knowledge, deep insights, vision, wisdom, guidance and mentorship.” He applauded the ‘Guru Shishya’ bonding in India. Praising the ‘Gurukul’ system, he said, “the enlightening comes from within and self-awakening.”
Dr Yogesh Singh recollected the old memory of 25 years back working with GGSIPU in a small room at Kashmere Gate. He credited to the learning of administration skills, academics and extracurricular activities to the GGSIPU. He quoted, “Degree is just a piece of paper, and education is what is reflected in one’s character.”
A ‘Silver Jubilee Book’ was released on the occasion. The program was organised by the Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW). A colourful cultural performance was presented by the students of DSW. Prof Manpreet Kang, Director, DSW delivered the welcome address. The Guest of Honour, Shri Deepak Vohra, Indian Diplomat, spoke on the Indian heritage and the enabling factors for India to be a ‘Vishwaguru’.
