Major breakthrough towards strengthening academic opportunities for the tribal communities: The state has now established a total of 44 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) all throughout the state, benefiting more than 11,000 tribal students. Ever since their inception in 2003, these schools have proven instrumental in offering free and quality education for Classes 6 to 12, where facilities are spread up to modern standards to offer good learning.
The EMRSs are designed to ensure that students receive a comprehensive educational experience and are provided with many facilities such as state-of-the-art interactive LEDs, smart technology, and green boards, enabling the experience of e-learning. Provisions have been made for smart classrooms, libraries, and computer labs in order for students to have access to resources for their academic success. For example, an EMRS in the tribal-dominated Dahod district has a library and computer labs with more than 40 computers and WiFi that greatly enhance the value of a student’s learning experience. Scholarships and Support.
It is also being done in the form of scholarship policies for tribal students under the new dimension of upliftment by the Gujarat government. The government has so far awarded 12 lakh students with pre-matric scholarships, while over 2.5 lakh students have been benefited from post-matric scholarships, which we strongly believe will contribute toward overall educational development among tribal youth. Categorizing the schemes as resulting in the better educational status of tribal population, Kuber Dindor, Minister for Tribal Development, averred that children and youths of the tribal community have become part of the nation-building initiative.
EMRSs focus on the comprehensive development amongst students from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Each school has boy’s and girl’s hostels, canteen serving nutritious meals, sports, and cultural facilities. As a comprehensive organization, these feelings were also reiterated amongst the students according to Prithvi Damor, one of the students, “We are very fortunate to have such extensive facilities and training provided, and now we pride ourselves in learning here.
The Gujarat State Tribal Education Society (GSTES) manages innumerable EMRS schools. It administers them in a manner such that the educational and infrastructural needs of the tribal students are fulfilled. Moreover, the society takes care of not just the EMRS but also Girls’ Literacy Residential Schools and Model Schools, extending its good services to the motive of providing quality.
Conclusion
Expansion of Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Gujarat would basically be a massive initiative to support educational access among the tribal students. With present-day home care facilities, extensive scholarship aid, and a focus on a positive course of development, it proves not just to be a school but also an important stage in making the future generation of tribal leaders self-empowered.
