IIM-Guwahati to Start Courses from Next Academic Year: Assam CM

Courses at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Guwahati are going to commence from the next academic year, informed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Chief Minister called on Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The latter has given his consent to the demand that courses from IIM-G would start from the next academic year.
Government Support and Discussions on Education The Chief Minister of Assam and the Education Minister met and discussed the Government of India’s support to the State of Assam under the PM USHA scheme, which is a Central scheme for financing State Institutions. They also had a detailed discussion on strengthening the capacity of the Teacher Training Institute and means of augmenting technical education in Assam.
According to the minister of education, NEP remains a guiding principle in making the teaching and learning landscape vibrant. This would be achieved through developing capacities of the academic institutions and the teachers so as to assure access to equity and quality in education to fulfill priorities in education for all without any kind of discrimination. The aspiration of the government is to realize aspirations by empowering people and to transform Assam into a growth engine of Viksit Bharat.
Significance of IIM-Guwahati The opening of the IIM-Guwahati campus is considered one of the biggest developments happening in Assam. The institute will make Guwahati the fourth city in the country to have an Indian Institute of Technology and an Indian Institute of Management. The other three cities are Jammu, Mumbai, and Indore.
Conclusion: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Indian Institute of Management, or IIM-Guwahati, will start courses from the next academic year. He met with the Education Minister, who gave his consent to this demand. The matters regarding building up the capacity of the educational institutions and furthering technical education in Assam were also discussed. Thus, the opening of IIM-G will henceforth catalyze further growth and development of the education sector within the state.
