IIT Delhi Unveils BTech in Design Program, Requiring JEE Advanced Score

IIT Delhi has decided to introduce a new four-year undergraduate programme BTech in Design, from the academic year 2025-26 . The programme is envisioned to provide full liberal education in design, development of skills for practice and research in design. Admission to the BTech in Design course in IIT Delhi will be made through rankings in JEE Advanced. The aspirants will also have to qualify in the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design, UCEED for admission.

IIT Delhi’s BTech in Design programme will focus on product design, with a broadbased training wherein, the core design courses will be combined with courses from other departments, centres, and schools. This would adopt an interdisciplinary approach and foster collaboration and partnership between the design department and other academic units within the institute . The courses would enable the students to take up leadership positions in industry, academia, government, consulting, and entrepreneurship.Eligibility requirement for admission to BTech in Design at IIT Delhi is candidate’s score in JEE Advanced.

Admission to the BTech in Design programme in IIT Delhi will be based on JEE Advanced rankings.

The JEE Advanced test is one of the most competitive exams to an undergraduate course of engineering in India; also, candidates have to qualify in the UCEED, a requirement that is an aptitude test designed to check a candidate’s design aptitude.

The BTech in Design comes at a time when recognition for design is increasingly growing in all industries and sectors. This will, therefore, enable IIT Delhi, through this BTech program in Design, to produce professionals who can use design as one of the imperative tools in solving real-world challenges.

The program is well placed to bring out product design issues in a very interdisciplinary way, hence providing all-rounded education that enables students to offer their difference in the relevant field.
