A piece of great news for aspiring engineers, the Abu Dhabi Campus of IIT Delhi is all geared up to add two undergraduate courses from this September. This will be massive expansion for the campus that, till date, remained oriented towards postgraduate courses since its inception in 2023. With the addition of new courses, the institute will begin BTech in Computer Science Engineering and Energy Engineering.
Admission Details
The campus plans to admit a total of 60 students for these programs. Of these, 20 students will be selected based on their performance in the JEE (Advanced) 2024, while the remaining 40 students will be chosen through a new entrance examination called Combined Admission Entrance Test. This test will be the first ever of its kind for any technical institution in India, especially designed for the candidates from the UAE, and it would bring a one-of-its-kind opportunity to the local and international students seeking admission in one of the top technical institutions of India.
Out of 40 seats through CAET, 20 shall be reserved for UAE nationals, while remaining 20 seats shall be for expatriates residing in UAE including Indian expatriates and international students.
Future Plans and Industry Engagement
The Director, Rangan Banerjee, said that close links with industries in the UAE and the Gulf region are mainly the goals that the campus aims to be involved with. Discussions, such as research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, are something the Abu Dhabi campus is going to engage in very soon.
Also, there are plans for a permanent campus of IIT Delhi to be set up in Abu Dhabi. This is already in process as faculties from the Delhi campus are being sent to the Abu Dhabi Campus, thus, the same quality education delivered at the headquarters is being delivered at this campus. More faculti recruitment shall be done in future on the same strict basis followed by IIT Delhi to further enhance the quality of learning experience for the students .
