Further to the same week, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the Department of Sports and Department of Youth Affairs, NSS, and community members from the society, a streak of sports competitions has been conducted in order to underline the role of sports and inculcate vital life skills among the students.

Shiksha Saptah Day 3. #SportsDay (24/07/2024)

The aim of Sports Day in Shiksha Saptah Week was to enthuse students with the activity of sports and instill manifold values intrinsic in the game, not merely restricted to the sports field, but through experienced realities. These, among other competitions, were meant to instill spirits of teamwork, discipline, hard work, and sportsmanship in participants.

There were various sports competitions that enabled students to become involved and prove their athletic skills in a friendly, competitive environment. The various sports include athletics, football, basketball, cricket, badminton, table tennis, and other such sports. Students keenly participated and showed their talents and interest in sports.

The sporting activities, besides being engaging, were a representation of the importance of physical fitness, mental agility, strategic thinking, and decision-making. The students learned how to handle pressure, adapt to situations, and work in a team. These experiences on the sports field prove to be invaluable life skills that can be translated into many other aspects of their personal and professional lives.

The Sports Day of Shiksha Saptah provided an opportunity to the students to discover their sporting talent, develop interest in the sport of choice, and to enjoy an active life throughout. It also highlighted the role of sports in promoting healthy lifestyle and overall well-being.

It was a day that reminded people of the commitment of the education system toward the nurturing of all-round children, excelling not only in academics but also in co-curricular activities. Students remained open for adopting an all-round approach to education by integrating sports in the curriculum and celebrating its importance during Shiksha Saptah.

Finally, the long-awaited Shiksha Saptah unfolded with the fullest participation of students in activities and events oriented towards building collaboration, innovation, and educational excellence. This week-long celebration created a platform for coming together among students, educators, policymakers, and stakeholders in making a positive difference in the education sector.

Shiksha Saptah is celebrated not just as a celebration for the reforms brought to education with the National Education Policy, 2020, but a reminder that holistic development has a role for sports in building citizens.
