The correspondent for Milagres Educational Institutions, Fr. Bonaventure Nazareth led the ceremonial blessing of the nursing college and its hostel facilities. His blessings were complemented by heart-aching speeches that brought the importance of nursing as a profession into the fore front.

In her address, Sr. Aileen Mathias, superior of Olavinahalli emphasized challenges and responsibilities that come along with establishing a nursing college. “Starting a college of nursing is no easy task. Milagres Institution has taken on a herculean effort to embark on this new venture,” she said. She lauded the profession of nursing for its nobility and profound impact it had on society, describing it as “not a job but a commitment to serve others and provide comfort and care in times of need.”. The profession chosen is demanding but also very rewarding because it can make a significant difference in the lives of patients and their families.

During the inauguration ceremony there were many dignitaries present such as Fr Uday Fernandes principal of Milagres Central School; Melvyn Vaz- principal of Milagres PU College; Victoria: vice principal of Milagres College of Nursing: and staff member Irene Alvares. This would therefore be an expression of the collaboration Milagres Educational Institutions wish to establish for fostering into future health care professionals.

Fr. Bonaventure Nazareth greeted the gathering, setting a warm and encouraging atmosphere for new students. The event featured speeches and cultural presentations that depicted the ethos of the college and its commitment to excellence in nursing education.

Principal Fr Michael Santhumayor of Milagres Degree College extended a vote of thanks towards the end. He thanked everyone with all his heart who had helped in setting up the nursing program in the institution and thanks to those present on that day for being a part of the function. Event compered by Glancia Fernandes who coordinated every activity and the function began.

It holds a much-required BSc nursing program with a focus towards the ever- increasing requirements of skilled professional nursing human resources in health care, to an unprecedented extent, that Milagres College of Nursing would provide a deep sense of compassion and care for people.

As the first batch sets out to embark on their academic journey, Milagres College of Nursing is ready to make a mark in Mangaluru and spread in all directions towards the transformation of healthcare.
