Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY): This is a scheme aimed at providing training in skill development through short-term training and upskilling/reskilling of those persons who possess prior learning. Trainings are imparted to the country’s youth, including those in rural areas.

Jan Shikshan Sansthan Scheme: JSS has the aim of providing vocational skills to non-literates and neo-literates or persons having rudimentary education. The target age under this programme is 15-45 years, with priority to women, SC, ST, OBC, and Minorities in rural and urban low-income areas.

Craftsmen Training Scheme: The CTS offers long-term training through a network of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) throughout the country. ITIs are primarily concerned with providing courses in vocational/skill trades to candidates in various economic sectors and, in turn, try to develop a pool of skilled workforce and also promote self-employment among youngsters.

Due to a sound assessment system, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship shall ensure good quality trainings that are relevant. At the end of training, candidates undergo assessment conducted by accredited Assessment Agencies recognized under National Council for Vocational Education and Training. Based on successful passing of the assessments, candidates are awarded certificates by an approved Awarding Body. The Ministry’s efforts are also aligned with the National Skill Development Mission. The mission aspires to create convergence across sectors and states in terms of skill training activities. The mission is implemented through a lean institutional mechanism driven by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Overall, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship was dedicated to empowering Indian youth with industry-relevant skills and making them ready for the future so that they contribute towards national growth.
