Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal: Hon’ble Minister of State for Education and Development of the North Eastern Region, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, paid an endearing visit to Eklavya School in Buniadpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, reminiscing about his golden days as a teacher while interacting with the enthusiastic learners. The visiting guest in his talk spoke about the power of transformations that education could bring and thanked the school for the chance to meet young minds.
The visit began with a very warm welcome from the authorities of the school as they honored the esteem minister in spending his time with their students. Since Dr. Majumdar is an educationist by qualification, he never missed the opportunity to reach out to the students during the visit and convey to them the importance of learning and the value it adds to life.
Speaking on personal experiences from being a teacher, Dr Majumdar said, “One of the most beautiful things about education is that no one can ever take it away from you.” He explained that this is what made education last long in one’s life. According to him, learning is a continuous process that empowers people over adverse situations, shapes their future, and contributes to building society.
This motivated and personal speech was also an indication that the Minister had learned from his own journeys, history, and track record in implementing the education sector. His compelling words went so far as insisting on the need to learn and be flexible during tough times, urging students to pursue knowledge no matter what.
Education is one of the most powerful tools able to uplift both people and entire communities. It’s a foundation for an individual’s and professional development, unlocking a person’s true potential,” said Majumdar. His message touched all hearts of those students as many were inspired to pursue their dreams following the doctor’s words.
During his visit, Dr. Majumdar toured the facilities of the school, met the teachers, and led a question-and-answer session with the students. “I was greatly impressed by the school administration’s efforts regarding quality education for the children in the region,” he added while complimenting the students with their strong focus on studying.
A thank note from the school authorities culminated his visit as they had thanked the Minister for taking time out to share his views. The students too had relished the experience of interacting with him and described it not only as memorable but rich.
Dr. Majumdar thanked the school staff and students for the warm reception at the school, which has turned out to be an experience of satisfaction and nostalgia for him. “This interaction has reminded me of the true essence of teaching — shaping young minds and empowering the next generation,” he said.
The visit by the Minister was, of course, an inspiring reminder of education’s role in building a brighter future for all and especially for places like Dakshin Dinajpur, where institutions such as Eklavya work towards quality education for subaltern groups.
