Bachelor of Technology is thus one of the most sought-after courses among science courses students. This also opens a variety of opportunities for students. Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical, Electronics, and Information Technology are some of the courses that come under high demand.
The BTech courses are also changing with this changing work sector, as several experts and institutes welcome this change in course structure and embrace several emerging subjects. This article will tabulate some of the new BTech courses offered by top universities and institutes in India that may lead the job economy in the near future.

IIT Varanasi: Ceramic Engineering
This institute in Varanasi provides a 4-year engineering degree in Ceramic Engineering and Glass Science Technology. According to the institute’s website, this course has Institute science and engineering courses which form the base of the Engineering Education.
This is followed by a number of core and elective courses, most of which are traditional and advanced in the fields of Ceramic and Glass technology: glass, cement, pottery and whitewares, refractories, abrasives, coatings, etc., under the former category, and bio-ceramics, electro-ceramics, engineering ceramics, composite, etc., under the latter.
IIT Hyderabad: Biomedical Engineering
IIT Hyderabad initiated a first-of-its-kind BTech programme in Biomedical Engineering, according to the Institute. BTech programme in BME students can take admission through JEE Advanced examination. Biology at 10+2 level is not a required prerequisite.
The course structure embeds topics: Medical Instrumentation and Systems Biology, Healthcare Data Analytics, 3D Bio-printing, Medical Optics and Imaging, Nanomedicine, Neurotechnology, Biomechanics, Neuromorphic Engineering, and Medical Data Modeling and Simulation.
Each student will undergo basic biomedical engineering training in the first two years, followed by a specialization in one of the above-mentioned fields.
IIT Indore: Space Science and Engineering
This is a unique programme in the domain of Space Science and Engineering, and IIT Indore is the only institute offering this course. The admission for interested students will be taken on the basis of their outcome in the JEE Advanced examination.
“Explore systems ranging from orbit control and space-based optics, all the way to ground station communications and robotics. In our Space Engineering program, you will gain the technical skills to design solutions to complex problems using space-based assets appropriately applying the principles of systems engineering. Students can learn and exercise the design and management of multidisciplinary projects which enable missions to the far reaches of the solar system”, as it mentioned under its information section.
This UG course would enable the students to choose careers in a wide range of professions related to space—space engineers, satellite system designers, mission planners, payload specialists, remote sensing analysts, etc.
IIT Bombay: Aerospace Engineering
The Institute offers a 4 year BTech or a 5 year dual-degree program in the Aerospace Engineering department. However, the dual degree program is such a program which combines a Bachelor and a Master degree. At the end of the academic session in the dual degree program, a student will be awarded two degrees.
All the admissions to the UG programmes are done at the institution for all Indian and foreign nationals through the Joint Entrance Examination. The departments are allocated based on personal preference and rank attained in JEE.
The students will also get a chance to research on topics like aerospace propulsion, aerospace structures, aerodynamics and dynamics and control.
IIT Madras: Quantum Science and Technology
Any BTech student or a dual degree student in any discipline is eligible to upgrade or opt for this program provided the student has obtained a minimum CGPA of 8.0 or above up to 5 semesters and is a student of IIT Madras. The allocation of dual degree specialization and award of the degree will be governed by the rules of the Institute.
Some of the key issues to be addressed in this study program include quantum information and coherent and quantum optics, superconductivity and applications, ultrafast lasers and applications, advanced photonics laboratory, integrated optoelectronic devices and circuits, and advanced topics on cryptography.
Students can work in an internship with companies like Bosch and Adobe on the one hand or with the staff at prestigious universities like RWTH Aachen and ETH Zurich, articulates the information section on the website.
