In a grand celebrations of excellence and leadership, Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, wasconferred with the highest state award ‘Prerna Srot Samman’ at the State-level Independence Day Ceremony 2024, held at Dehra, Kangra.The award, presented by the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, honours Prof. Verma’s exemplary contributions to promote innovation and excellence, recognizing his deep sense of pride and enduring bond with the Himachali heritage.
The Prerna Srot Samman, a distinguished accolade, is awarded to individuals hailing from the state with exceptional leadership. Prof. Verma, who hails from Himachal Pradesh, has deep roots in the region, having completed his schooling and early professional work here before his remarkable journey in the field of education and dentistry. As recipient of the reputed civilian award, the Padma Shri, Dr. B.C. Roy Award and National Science and Technology Award, his accomplishments stand as an inspiration, not just for the people of Himachal, but for the entire nation.
Under Prof. Verma’s leadership, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has become a hub of knowledge, innovation, and impactful research. His influence extends beyond education, as he is a renowned figure in dentistry, having made significant advancements in dental education and oral healthcare across India. His extensive research, clinical expertise, and innovative approaches have elevated the standards of dental practice and shaped dental education policies nationwide.
In his acceptance remarks, Prof. Mahesh Verma expressed deep gratitude, stating, “This honor is not just mine, but a tribute to the collective dedication and hard work of the entire academic and healthcare communities. As a Himachali born in Bilaspur, Himachal pradesh, this recognition is particularly meaningful. I am profoundly grateful to the Government of Himachal Pradesh and Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for this esteemed honor. As the Vice Chancellor of GGSIPU, I remain committed to advancing educational excellence, pioneering innovations in dentistry and healthcare, and inspiring future generations of leaders in these field.
