PM VidyaLakshmi Scheme: Financial Aid for Meritorious Students

Share

The Narendra Modi government is doing all that can be done for higher education in the country by extending support towards the meritorious students coming from across the length and breadth of the nation. Thus, not an even one rupee worth problem shall stop this energetic group from achieving its higher educational pursuits. Under this commitment, the PM VidyaLakshmi scheme has been launched to help particularly talented students who have a will to continue their education but cannot do so because of economic problems. This novel step in this direction will also help realize India’s vision to educate and skill its workforce.

This is the PM VidyaLakshmi scheme envisioned for educational loans and scholarships for students from the economically weaker sections. This is the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education. Students seeking to join undergraduate, postgraduate, or technical courses find easy accessibility to funding for education. Access is now made easy by way of a single window by making it easier and more transparent for students through access to education loans.

. During an exclusive discussion on Aaj Ka Focus with Mukul Sharma, Mr Purnendu Kishore Banerjee, the joint secretary of Department of Higher Education enlightened through the very purpose and intended deliverability of the scheme towards its impact upon India’s scenario. For Mr. Banerjee, PM VidyaLakshmi actually represents a vision from a political perspective which shows commitment through bridging the gap, so the government bridges affordability gaps between students’ true potential, making their goal achievable despite financial difficulties at the forefront.

The VidyaLakshmi scheme is more than a financial aid program; it is the opportunity for the youth of our country to rise and to excel without letting the financial constraints do it,” said Mr. Banerjee while adding that equal opportunities have to be created to students, especially to the rural and economically weaker sections who generally face a lot of difficulties in securing funding for higher studies.

Under the online portal, students along with their parents can compare the educational loan options being offered, know well about the eligibility criteria, and make a proper decision. Given support from different banks, this portal eases all the procedures of loans and enables students to concentrate more on their studies.

This is a very significant step by the government towards an all-inclusive education system that does not permit the economic status of any Indian youth to bar the way for their achievement of academic aspirations.
