The State Bank of India (SBI) has launched the third edition of its signature Asha Scholarship program that is set to help 10,000 bright students from economically weaker sections across India.
The scheme allows students to receive financial assistance ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹20 lakh in a year, accommodating those from Classes 6 to postgraduate levels. There is also a special category “Study Abroad” purely for SC and ST students for master’s degree and onward studies at reputed institutions abroad.
Eligible students can apply for the Asha Scholarship until October 1, 2024. The application form and details regarding eligibility are available at the official website-sbifashascholarship.org.
Since its commencement in 2022, financial assistance amounting to ₹3.91 crore has been sanctioned to 3,198 students under the Asha Scholarship program to make higher education more accessible for the underprivileged youth of India.
“Asha Scholarship epitomizes SBI’s commitment to go beyond banking and contribute to the nation’s progress and prosperity,” said Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, Chairman of SBI. “We are proud to expand this initiative to 10,000 students this year, as these Asha Scholars will play a crucial role in achieving our nation’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”
The Asha Scholarship administered by the SBI Foundation works to make quality education accessible to young Indians, especially those from under-reserved categories, so that financial barriers may not serve as deterrents to academic success.
