Workshop Inaugural A new era beckons for Higher Education Textbooks in Bharatiya Bhasha with this workshop on the writing of textbooks in Bharatiya Bhasha for Higher Education, turning out to be a somewhat changing phase of the educational framework of the nation. The distinguished personalities who participated in this inauguration ceremony include Padma Shri Chamu Krishna Shastri, Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, and Vice-Chairman, UGC, Professor Deepak Kumar Srivastava. The workshop is indeed a giant leap toward the integration of Indian languages into the curriculum of higher education to further linguistic diversity and inclusivity.

This initiative has been planned keeping in mind the need expressed in the National Education Policy, 2020, to focus on mother tongue-based education at least till Class V and use regional languages at all levels of schooling. Padma Shri Chamu Krishna Shastri: A scholar and proponent himself of Sanskrit and Bharatiya Bhasha, Shastri therefore brought out rich cultural and academic potential cooperation in Bharatiya Bhasha teaching. He opined that texts in regional languages would fill up the missing link between traditional knowledge systems and contemporary education to give today’s students an enriching learning experience.
Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar: The Chairman of UGC has said there is a dire need for a paradigm shift in the educational sector, and the instructional medium would reflect diverse languages across the country. He added that often, students have a better grasp of concepts if taught in their native tongue—better academic performance and closer attachment to their cultural roots.

Professor Deepak Kumar Srivastava: The pragmatic features of the initiative were brought out by the Vice-Chairman, UGC. He talked about the modalities of textbook production in various languages, the need for oriented and trained teachers to effectively handle teaching in these languages, and how technology could be used to reach these far and wide.
There had been a number of interactive sessions on various aspects pertaining to textbooks preparation and their distributions. These included:
- Curriculum Development: Experts shared how to design a curriculum framework that includes Bharatiya Bhasha, ensuring that it is academically rigorous and culturally relevant in content.
- Textbook Writing: Accomplished authors and educators stepped up to the podium to share their experiences with how they have gone about writing textbooks in regional languages. They laid great emphasis on teamwork by linguists, subject experts, and educationists needing to come up with high-quality resource materials.
- Training of Teachers : With this in mind, understanding that the process of transition would be led by teachers, the workshop emphatically laid emphasis on training the teacher fraternity towards teaching effectively in Bharatiya Bhasha. This shall develop new pedagogical methodologies and leverage technology to aid instruction.
- Integration of Technology: With the opening of digital education to the mass public, a host of deliberations underwent circulation regarding the development of e-textbooks and digital resources in Bharatiya Bhasha so that the involved students can access them from anywhere in the geographical boundary.
The inauguration of this workshop marks the beginning of a long-term project that will be demanding in terms of the quantum of work and amount of cooperation required between stakeholder segments: the government, institutions of learning, and the book industry.
