The UGC has provided instructions to HEIs for implementing the Academic Bank of Credits scheme. All the important points stipulated in the instructions by UGC are that there has to be a registration on the ABC portal. The HEIs need to get registered on the ABC portal. This is a registration requirement for the implementation of the scheme under ABC. Setup of ABC Cell and Nodal Officer: The HEIs shall set up an ABC cell in their institution and also designate a nodal officer regarding the implementation of the ABC scheme. The details of the nodal officer shall be reflected on the website of the institution.
Instruct Students to Apply on ABC Portal: HEIs are advised to inform and instruct students to apply on the ABC Portal. The ABC scheme allows students to collect, transfer, and redeem their credits earned during their education. Make ABC ID Mandatory: HEIs are directed to make ABC ID a compulsory field in the Admission and Examination Forms and on the Student Identity Card, if possible. This ensures that the student has an ABC ID associated with their academic records.
Posters and Templates Display: Prominent places, like the canteen, Library, Notice board, or areas of maximum students’ movement in the HEIs, display posters and templates relating to the scheme ABC. This in turns creates an awareness, allowing the usage of the working scheme of ABC.Organize Seminars or Workshops: HEIs are directed to organize seminars or workshops for information provision and publicity of the ABC scheme on campus and in affiliated colleges. This will help students and faculty members understand the benefits and processes associated with the ABC scheme.Upload Academic Data: HEls are required to onboard with ABC (if not already boarded) and upload academic data, including the students’ earned credits obtained during or after the academic year 2021-22 along with the students’ ABC ID.With these directions, UGC aims at expanding the outreach of the ABC portal and the smooth execution of the ABC scheme in the institutions of higher education.

Under the new education policy, an ABC scheme has been introduced that will allow students to collect, transfer, and redeem credits earned by them during their education;. The underlying idea is to make academic mobility within the different higher educational institutions of the nation easy for students;. In digital form, the ABC ID will store the academic credits and information of the students;.
