It is one of the key demographics in Canadian universities that contribute to the academic landscape and the Canadian economy since they have helped create over 170,000 jobs across various sectors.
Dr. Robert Gordon explained that “this visit is a unique opportunity for us to strengthen academic relationships with India. Through working engagements with the top Indian universities and industry leaders, we hope to set up a robust framework to facilitate mutual mobility to the advantage of both our institutions and our students.”.
The visit will foster stronger links with the Indian universities as the University of Windsor looks forward to further collaboration in research, curriculum development, and innovation. Special focus will be laid on creating platforms for reciprocal student and faculty exchanges that enable students from both countries to benefit from global exposure and rich experiences.
Focus on Innovation and Research
Our goal here is to show the commitment of the University to the innovation process in education. We can further strengthen the partnership with emerging Indian institutions through new partnerships by developing solutions with mutual involvement for the benefit of Indian students accessing learning opportunities here in Canada,” echoed Dr. Bill Van Heyst, Faculty of Engineering Dean, underlining the commitment by the University to the process of innovation in education.
The expected aspects of its meetings with IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, and IIT Mumbai would be in the focus on joint research initiatives, especially in engineering and technology, areas to which India and Canada have a long history of cooperation. Pooling resources and building on skills, both countries try to bring solutions to global problems, which would require active research and innovation.
The University of Windsor will offer students from India world-class research facilities, internships, and advanced training opportunities in fields such as engineering and health sciences, among others. Canadian students will also gain valuable experience during their time in India, which is quickly emerging as a hub of technology and innovation around the world.
MoU on Scholarships and Funds
Apart from forming academic collaborations, the University of Windsor is interested in providing more opportunities to more Indian students to pursue education opportunities at this Canadian university. In discussion related to this, under the delegation visit, scholarship programs, financial aids, and student exchange initiatives are some of the issues that have been discussed. The programs will reduce financial barriers among deserving students so that talented students from India can have quality education at the University of Windsor.
Student scholarships and financial aid packages will constitute a large portion of the collaboration discussions, thus enabling student populations from deprived economic backgrounds to continue their university education. Such programs are also envisaged to be enhancing mutual appreciation of cultural and educational systems of both countries.

The University of Windsor is continuing to increase its global footprint. This delegation visit for the institution represents long-term commitment towards the development of strong international partnerships. As the number of Indian students is on an increase in Canada, the University’s outreach to the Indian institutions try to give a well-structured and supportive environment to students who are pursuing international education.
This shall manifest in developing talent and fostering innovation through collaborative programs, opportunity spaces for research, and eventually, financial support. Therefore, this visit is key to influencing higher education vis-à-vis its future since it enables the exchange of knowledge across borders and produces a global citizen who welcomes challenges for tomorrow.

Innovation, global exposure, and collaboration were always going to be major themes in the scheme of things at the University aimed at enriching students’ learning experiences in both Canada and India. Signing of MoUs and setting up of scholarship and financial aid programs further highlight the commitment of the University to making education a more inclusive and accessible environment for one and all. As academic ties are built, these should help out both students and institutions in the two countries to engage as a pre-condition and assurance of shared learning and global collaboration in the future.
