In a first-of-its-kind initiative to strengthen the management education curriculum in healthcare, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Population Services International (PSI) India. This collaboration is expected to expedite the process of strengthening the public health sector by offering an appropriate blend of academic rigor and practical expertise through IIM Bodh Gaya’s two-year full-time MBA in Hospital and Healthcare Management (MBA-HHM).
The programme, well-articulated to address many domains of the healthcare industry—ranging from corporate hospitals to public health, pharmaceuticals, digital health, insurance, and healthcare consulting—now gets that added value in joining forces with subject matter experts from PSI India. These subject matter experts will deliver focused lectures that enable a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic landscape of healthcare.
Under the MoU, PSI India will offer pathways of community engagement, internship opportunities, and final placements to students to give them hands-on real-life exposure. The distinctive feature of the MBA-HHM programme is its four-month summer internship, as it is exclusively presented as an autonomous offering from other management programs in the country.
Pointing out the strategic importance of this partnership, Director IIM Bodh Gaya, Dr Vinita Sahay, and Executive Director PSI India Mukesh Kumar Sinha underlined academic excellence’s congruence with impact on society. They reemphasized the idea that this collaboration goes beyond academics into nurturing innovation and solving key issues in public health.
In addition to academic and industry engagement, the MoU outlines plans for joint research, round table discussions, seminars, workshops, and conferences. All these are aimed at encouraging sharing of knowledge and open healthy discussion on major issues in health.
This partnership will bring a difference and bridge the gap between academia and industry, which puts IIM Bodh Gaya and PSI India at the forefront of how healthcare management education will work in the future.
