IIT Madras, SWAYAM Plus launch skill training for students

Share

Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) Pravartak Technologies Foundation is partnering with SWAYAM Plus in order to introduce a skill-based training program for equipping Engineering and Science students with industry-ready technical skills in electronics. This would be advanced training in the semiconductor industry where students can attain hands-on experience in state-of-the-art technology.

Interested candidates can apply on the IIT Madras Pravartak official website at iitmpravartak.org.in/advanced_electronic_mfg. The program will be held from October 7 to 18, and the application deadline is October 3. Eligibility is available for Engineering, Diploma, and Science students/students with a graduation degree in Electronics branch.

The intensive 11-day program is going to be held in physical mode at the IIT Madras campus where the students are going to learn hands-on training in semiconductor technology. The aim of the training would include important aspects of PCB assembly, soldering techniques, power electronic components, DC to AC inverters, and the design of an embedded system with a microcontroller from STM 32. Participants will be able to learn the configuration of GPIO ports, the generation of PWM signals, and interfacing ADC, DAC, LCD displays, and motors with STM 32.

The course fee is Rs 15,000 plus GST. IIT Madras is also offering accommodation on campus at a cost of Rs 650 per day inclusive of food and stay. Requests for accommodation need to be made before October 3.

An important aspect of the program is placement assistance available for students who perform well throughout the course, thereby making it possible for them to get into the Semiconductor Industry. Pravartak will identify learners based on their qualifications to ensure only highly potential candidates acquire industry-ready skills through this initiative.

This collaboration between IIT Madras’ Pravartak and SWAYAM Plus is an important step in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements in building a workforce ready to support India’s burgeoning semiconductor sector.
