India Will Lead the World in Legal Education: A-G Venkataramani

‘Urdu Language Legal Education to Enrich Country’s Cultural Wealth’While global experts are lamenting the weaknesses of legal education institutions in their respective countries, the legal education system in India is like an oasis and on its way to hoist India at the top globally, said Attorney-General of India, R. Venkataramani. He was addressing at Maulana Azad National Urdu University Law School, visiting to inaugurate the ‘R. Venkataramani Moot Court Hall’ July 6. “It is believed that in the U.S. proper practice of law is not taught. In Europe, it is said neither is it taught nor learned properly,” he said and added that discussions were taking place in these countries on what went wrong in legal education. “An institution of legal education is essentially a laboratory of law. Entrance tests have been over and the admission process is going on. Currently, 60 students each have been enrolled for both the undergraduate and the postgraduate courses. The Vice-Chancellor of Chanakya National Law University, Faizan Mustafa, said that a constitutionally-deserved status and recognition of MANUU as an institution of national importance was long overdue. He requested Mr Venkataramani to allow him to endorse the project of the university on translation of the three new laws into Urdu, and promised that he will make a personal donation towards the same.
