SAU Celebrates Nepal’s National Day with Cultural Unity

Nepal’s National Day was celebrated by students from across South Asia at the South Asian University(SAU). South Asian University is a university established by all SAARC member countries, and is located in Delhi.
Charge d’ affaires a.i., Embassy of Nepal in India Dr. Surendra Kumar Thapa participated as the chief guest in the Nepal’s National Day celebrations organized on a large scale for the first time in SAU.

South Asian University President and country’s renowned educationist Professor KK Aggarwal inaugurated the function with due rituals and Dr. Surendra Kumar Thapa hoisted the national flag of Nepal.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Thapa thanked South Asian University President Professor KK Aggarwal for organizing Nepal’s National Day. Dr. Thapa said that South Asian University is becoming an important medium to strengthen educational and cultural relations between South Asian countries through education. Dr. Thapa said that such programs should continue to be organized in future as well.

On this occasion, South Asian University President Professor KK Aggarwal wished everyone a Happy Nepal Day and said that the main purpose of organizing Nepal’s National Day is to bring students from other SAARC countries closer ideologically by connecting them with education and Nepal’s cultural richness.

Professor KK Aggarwal said that South Asian University shows unity in diversity because of the students and faculty from SAARC countries. He underlined how the purpose of education goes beyond the confines of classroom teaching- learning process.

Students from across South Asia put up a cultural programme highlighting the shared richness of culture in South Asia.

On the occasion, Registrar Dr. Ravindra Kumar Soni gave detailed information to Dr. Surendra Thapa about the educational activities going on in South Asian University as well as new courses and research activities.

After the programme, Gokul Basnet, Cultural Counselor working in the Nepalese Embassy, met the Nepalese students studying in South Asian University and the teaching and non-teaching staff and thanked Professor KK Aggarwal for the educational activities going on in South Asian University.

Apart from Dr. Saroj Aggarwal, who was present as a special guest in the programme, South Asian University’s Acting Vice President Senthil Kumar Venugopal, University’s Deans, Directors, Teaching, Non-Teaching Staff and students from Nepal and other SAARC countries and senior officials of the Nepalese Embassy were also present.
