SECL to provide free residential coaching for NEET

Chhattisgarh-based Coal India Subsidiary, SECL will provide free residential medical coaching to students of Class 12th Under its CSR initiative, “SECL ke Sushrut”, the company will mentor and provide coaching to students to help them prepare for the national medical entrance exam – NEET.

The initiative will have a significant positive impact on students hailing from underprivileged economic backgrounds, particularly those residing in villages within the coal belt regions of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. These students aspire to pursue medical careers but face financial barriers that prevent them from affording medical coaching classes.

The selection of students for the coaching will be through a competitive exam based on the same pattern as NEET. Under the programme coaching will be provided to a total batch of 35 students in partnership with a Bilaspur-based private coaching institute. The program will be residential with regular national-level test series and mentoring and will include lodging and boarding facilities.

For detailed terms and conditions and to register for the programme students will need to visit SECL website – https://secl-cil.in/index.php. The last date for online registration is September 6th, 2023. The selection test will be held on September 10th.

For those seeking to apply for the coaching, they should have successfully completed their 12th-grade exams in 2023 with a minimum of 60% marks.

Applicants are required to have their domicile in either Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh. Additionally, they should either reside within a 25 km radius of the SECL Establishment in the Operational Districts of Korba, Raigarh, Koriya, Surguja, Surajpur, Balrampur, and Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur Districts of Chhattisgarh, or their school should be situated within the same radius in the Umaria, Anuppur, and Shahdol Districts of Madhya Pradesh.

Furthermore, the annual Gross Income of the applicant’s Parents or Guardians should not exceed ₹8,00,000/- (Rupees Eight lakhs only). Before gaining admission to the coaching program, candidates must provide an Income Certificate issued by the relevant Government authority, Income Tax Return documents of the Parents, or evidence of the candidate’s name being registered in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) Card or Antyodaya Anna Yojana Card.

Regarding the available coaching program seats, a reservation system will also be enforced in accordance with the Ministry of Coal’s guidelines. This entails reserving 14% of the seats for Scheduled Castes (SC), 23% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 13% for Other Backward Classes (OBC).
