Inspired by the visionary ideals of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” initiative, students from across India came together to pay tribute to the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. As part of the year-long celebrations commemorating the adoption of the Constitution, they voiced the iconic opening words, “We, the People of India,” in their native languages, symbolizing the nation’s enduring unity in diversity.
This creative, passionate exercise is an epitome of the essence of India’s multi-culture and the unrelenting commitment to the value structure enshrined in the Constitution. In this gathering, where voices were brought forth from different regions, languages, and cultural backgrounds, one could hear the loud appreciation for the founding values that unite the nation together.
Resonating Unity in Diversity
Students from Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Maharashtra, Nagaland, and Kerala, among others, participated in the event. Each student delivered the opening words of the Preamble with passion in their mother tongue, celebrating the linguistic and cultural richness of their respective regions. From Tamil to Assamese, Gujarati to Manipuri, the multilingual rendition served as a reminder of India’s collective strength and its ability to find unity in diversity.
Our Constitution reflects the ethos of a nation that celebrates differences while standing together as one. Today’s initiative is an epitome of this spirit, where young voices from every nook and corner of India come together to reaffirm their commitment to nation-building,” said a senior official from the Ministry of Education, which organized the event in collaboration with cultural and linguistic institutions.
Honouring Constitutional Values
The event also made a declaration of the fundamental philosophy of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, enshrined in the Preamble. The students, during their speeches, reflected upon how these principles guide the nation to meet the demands of modernity while enhancing social harmony and national integration.
“The Constitution is not just a legal document; it is a living testament to the dreams and aspirations of every Indian. By reciting the Preamble in our native languages, we are celebrating the inclusivity and progressive vision of our forefathers,” said Aditi Sharma, a student from Rajasthan, who participated in the event.
A Tribute to ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’
The Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat initiative, launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, aims to enhance interaction and mutual understanding among the people of different states and Union Territories. This event, aligned with the initiative’s mission, furthered cultural exchange and strengthened the sense of shared identity among the participants.
This act of reciting the Preamble in native languages has been very symbolic in that it bridged linguistic divides and made citizens feel at home. It shows that regardless of the differences between the regions and cultures, the ideals of the Constitution find resonance across the nation.
Youth as Nation-Builders
It underlines the crucial role youth have to play in India’s future. In actively participating in such celebrations, young Indians not only engage with the country’s rich constitutional heritage but also internalize the values that will guide their roles as responsible citizens.
“Today’s youth will be the torchbearers of India’s journey on the path to progress and inclusivity. Their enlightenment and commitment to constitutionalism will build a better India,” said Justice (Retd.) Indira Banerjee, who visited the event as the chief guest.
Celebration of the Legacy of Constitution
The year-long celebrations marking the adoption of Indian Constitution would involve debates, essay competitions, cultural performances, and awareness drives towards educating citizens of their constitutional rights and duties while fostering a sense of pride in the nation’s democratic ethos.
This event concluded with a joint recitation of the Preamble in Hindi, followed by a rendition of the national anthem, leaving participants inspired and united in their commitment to nation-building.
It is the country’s 75th anniversary of the Constitution that this tribute by students marks a testament to the strength in diversity of India. It reminds every citizen that the Constitution is not only a rule book but is the light that shines as an epitome of “We, the People of India,” with their hopes, struggles, and oneness.
This initiative, bridging regions and generations, epitomizes the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat and underlines the power of youth in carrying forward the ideals of justice, equality, and fraternity toward a brighter future.
