Corporate Leaders Back Youth For Sustainable Future

Share

India, bearing a huge population of young people, ranks midway on the median age list at around 29.51 years in 2023. On International Youth Day 2025 (August 12), celebrated under the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” organisations across the country reaffirm their commitment to empower youth as agents of sustainable change. With the SDGs serving as a framework, corporate leaders are stressing the importance of skills, opportunities, and platforms for the future.

Speaking on the importance of empowering youth, Puneet Anand, AVP & Vertical Head, Corporate Affairs, Corporate Communication & Social, HMIL, said, “At Hyundai Motor India Foundation, our vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ guides every initiative we undertake. We believe in the potential of India’s youth as the architects of tomorrow, and are deeply invested in building an inclusive, future-ready ecosystem that nurtures their aspirations. From classrooms to careers, and from sports fields to art studios, Hyundai is walking with youth every step of the way. Notably, over 56% of the 20.1 lakh+ beneficiaries of the initiatives undertaken by HMIF in FY 2024-25 fall within the 13-35 age group, reflecting its sustained commitment to empowering young changemakers across the nation.”

Gautam Bali, MD and Founder, Vestige Marketing Pvt., noted, “As technology evolves and redefines the way we engage, interact, and create opportunities, it is imperative to equip the young individuals of India with digital and AI skills. It is not just an investment in personal futures, but an essential component in moving the nation forward on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to the WFDSA, more than 60% of direct sellers across the world are under 35 years old, a strong affirmation of youth’s ability to drive inclusive and independent economic systems.

At Vestige, we have a strong passion for building local youth-driven initiatives that meaningfully support the SDGs. We are convinced that a digitally enabled, entrepreneurial age group will lead the way in powering sustainable innovation, self-employment, and inclusive growth. Leveraging the strength of direct selling, we keep empowering young voices and allowing them to own their futures, and, in the process, create a better, more resilient India.”
