In a significant step to expand digital education and help women build successful careers in the growing video games industry, Lakshya Digital, a Keywords Studio, has partnered with the Nirmaan Organization to launch a technology program at the Government Degree College for Women (GDCW) in Begumpet, Hyderabad. This partnership aims to connect academic education with industry-related skill development, especially in the fields of Digital Arts and Game Development.

The initiative was inaugurated on the college campus with the presence of prominent guests, such as Smt. Deva Sena IAS, Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Telangana; Mr. S. Ganeshan, Head Education Initiative at Logistics Sector Skill; Mr. Reddy Subramanyam, Founder & CEO; Prof. Subba Rao, Vice Chancellor of Young India Skill University, Telangana; and Mr. Reddi from CRISP. Their attendance at the event highlighted the growing commitment to empower young women in creative and technical fields through structured education, guidance, and access to technology.

At the core of this initiative is a fully equipped tech lab set up within the college. This lab provides hands-on training in 3D Video Game Art. It features high-end computers, graphic tablets, and other specialized tools designed for an effective and engaging learning experience. The goal is to offer students not just theoretical knowledge but practical experience that meets industry expectations, creating clear pathways into careers in the digital entertainment industry.

This development builds on Lakshya Digital’s existing work with GDCW through its inGame Academy, which focuses on skill-based training for future game developers and digital artists. The Academy has introduced a specialized degree program at the college, designed in line with global industry standards. What makes this program unique is its practical, mentor-led approach. Experienced production trainers from Lakshya work directly on campus, sharing their real-world insights into the workflows, tools, and expectations of the international game development sector.

The initiative’s success is already evident. Six students from the program’s first graduating batch have started internships at Lakshya, marking the start of actual career paths and showcasing the program’s ability to produce industry-ready talent. These internships reflect the students’ skill development and the company’s dedication to fostering talent from within the academic environment.

During the gathering, Smt. Deva Sena IAS highlighted the important role of public-private partnerships in education. She stated that such collaborations are vital for strengthening the public education system. They open doors for students in the Indian video games industry. When industry leaders partner with educational institutions, they create new opportunities for students, particularly young women, to access quality education and prepare for their futures. She acknowledged that this contribution is a vital step toward creating a more inclusive and digitally empowered academic environment.

Lakshya Digital recognizes the urgent need for more gender diversity in the video games industry, where women make up only 12% to 14% of the workforce. To change this, the company commits to ensuring that at least 30% of all inGame program participants are women. Beyond inclusive programs, Lakshya also runs initiatives specifically for women to lower entry barriers and encourage a more balanced talent pipeline.

Manvendra Shukul, CEO of Lakshya Digital and Board Member of the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT), shared the broader vision behind this partnership. He stated that the collaboration with GDCW reflects their strong belief in the power of education and industry mentorship. With women representing a small part of the workforce in the video games sector, Lakshya aims to build a strong talent pipeline by addressing this gender gap. This initiative is not just about providing facilities; it is about creating real opportunities for young women in digital art and technology. He expressed hope that this is just the beginning of many success stories that will shape the future of the Indian video games industry.

Beyond classroom activities, Lakshya’s support for GDCW students has included giving them exposure to the broader industry. Last year, the company helped GDCW students participate in the India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) in Hyderabad, India’s leading event for gaming professionals. This event allowed students to meet industry leaders, discover new trends, and understand the career opportunities in this vibrant sector.

As Hyderabad develops into a center for creative industries and digital innovation, initiatives like this will be essential to ensure that the next generation, especially women, do not miss out.
