The Assam State School Education Board has officially declared the schedule for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Compartment Examination 2025. This declaration brings relief for thousands of students who could not pass the regular HSLC exams and are now set to appear for the compartment exams in an attempt to clear their subjects and achieve their academic advancement. The board has released the datesheet on its official portal, and the students are requested to check it thoroughly.

As per the schedule announced, the compartment exams will start from May 23 and go on till May 29, 2025. The examinations will be conducted in two shifts daily: the morning shift from 9 am to 12 noon and the afternoon shift from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. 15 minutes of extra time will be provided to students before each exam so that they can read the question paper carefully. Candidates for the morning shift will receive this time between 8:45 am and 9 am, and afternoon shift candidates will be provided time between 1:15 pm and 1:30 pm for the same.

The registration procedure for the compartment exam is likely to start in May 2025. Candidates who could not clear the board exams need to register through their individual schools. According to the guidelines released by the board, students will not be able to register for the compartment exams on an individual basis. School authorities will have to carry out the registration procedures on their behalf. There will be a charge of Rs 350 per subject, along with an exam center charge of Rs 150. All payments have to be made through a challan from the Apex Bank by the given deadline.

The compartment exam is compulsory for the students who have failed in three or more subjects. In order to clear the compartment exam, the candidates need to obtain a minimum percentage of 30 in each subject they write. Also, their aggregate score across all the subjects must be a minimum of 180 to be considered successful. Further, the board has also announced that a separate list of examination centers shall be issued in due course.

The detailed schedule of examination comprises a variety of subjects over a number of days. In the morning session, exams like English, Social Science, General Science, Advanced Mathematics, History, Arabic, Persian, and Assamese will be conducted. At the same time, the afternoon shift will deal with topics like Sanskrit and Hindi, and vocational and skill-based subjects such as Computer Science, Commerce, Private Security, Tourism & Hospitality, Agriculture Diary Worker, Animal Health Worker, Automotive, IT/ITeS, and creative subjects such as Music, Dance, Wood Craft, Garment Designing, and Fine Art.

Worth noting is the fact that Assam HSLC 2025 results had been announced early on April 11. Overall pass percentage in this year’s exams was at 63.98%. The boys attained a pass percentage of 67.59%, and the girls got a slightly lesser percentage of 61.09%. The compartment exam now becomes a crucial avenue for students who failed the ordinary exams to attain better marks and receive their HSLC certificate.

The HSLC compartment exam provides students with a second chance to finish their school education without repeating the whole academic year. It also alleviates the academic burden on students by providing them with a concentrated opportunity to improve on the subjects they performed poorly in. The board’s move to publish the schedule well in advance, along with proper guidelines for registration and eligibility criteria, is to assist students and schools to prepare effectively for the next examination.

Students and guardians are advised to stay in close contact with their schools to ensure timely registration and fee submission. They should also regularly check the official board website for updates regarding the exam centres and any further announcements related to the examination process. As the compartment exams approach, students are encouraged to focus on revision and seek support from their teachers to strengthen their understanding of the subjects they will be retaking.
