NTA Retest for Accountancy Following Paper Pattern Changes for CUET UG 2025
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made a notable change in an attempt to address student complaints and guarantee fairness by offering a re-examination option to students who took the Accountancy paper in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) Undergraduate 2025. The choice was made due to widespread worries about inconsistencies in the Accountancy exam that was held between May 13 and May 16, notably about the inclusion of questions that fell beyond the officially prescribed syllabus.
NTA has chosen to change the format of the Accountancy exam after giving the subject careful thought and considering student input. Students will have the option of attempting or skipping unit V questions entirely under the updated model. The rest of the test will be entirely devoted to Units I through IV, which is more in line with the syllabus that applicants were told to adhere to. The unexpected questions in the previous version of the exam placed many pupils at a disadvantage, and this action is anticipated to help them.
The NTA has provided a choice in order to protect students from being penalized for factors outside of their control. With the revised paper pattern, candidates who sat for the Accountancy paper prior to the revision have the option of keeping their previous score or choosing to take the re-test. Students have the option of raising their grades with this flexible method if they believe the previous paper had an unjust impact on their outcomes.
The NTA, however, has made it clear that a student’s previous score on the Accountancy exam will be completely disregarded if they choose to retake it. The final assessment will only take into account the score earned during the retest. Additionally, candidates who sign up for the retest but do not show up will receive a “ABSENT” designation in the subject, and no grade will be given for Accountancy. Conversely, if you don’t sign up for the re-test, your original scores from the May 13–16 session will be regarded as definitive, and no adjustments will be made.
By May 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM, candidates wishing to retake the exam must submit their agreement via the official website given by the NTA (https://shorturl.at/6KA6b). Since the retest score will entirely replace the original score and there is no way to revert to the previous marks, the agency has advised students to make a well-informed decision after taking all factors into account.
The CUET UG 2025 has received an all-time high of 13.5 million applications, representing a notable rise in engagement from prior years. The test, which was initially slated to start on May 8, was pushed back and ultimately began on May 13. In contrast to the CUET UG 2024, which was administered in a hybrid format but experienced significant disruptions, such as a last-minute cancellation throughout Delhi as a result of logistical issues, this year’s test is being administered entirely in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.
The CUET UG 2025 is a crucial national entrance test that makes it easier for students to get into undergraduate programs at central and other participating colleges during the 2025–26 academic year. Candidates have the option of selecting from 37 subjects, including 13 language subjects, 23 domain-specific topics, and one general aptitude exam, across 13 languages. Depending on the eligibility requirements of their chosen universities and courses, students may choose up to five subjects in total.
The NTA has reaffirmed its dedication to transparency, fairness, and student well-being, stating that the re-test for accountancy is a positive step toward addressing any unintentional academic disadvantage brought about by the previous paper format. Candidates and stakeholders are encouraged to remain informed by visiting the official NTA websites at www.nta.ac.in and cuet.nta.nic.in, where additional information, guidelines, and official notifications will continue to be published.
The significance of student feedback in the examination process is emphasized by this choice made by the NTA, which establishes a benchmark for future responsiveness and remedial actions. Maintaining the integrity and fairness of the CUET UG is essential since it has a significant impact on academic prospects throughout India, and the re-test for Accountancy is a positive step in that direction.
