Rajasthan NEET UG: Double Contest for Every Seat

Share

Jaipur, August 11, 2025 – With approximately two applicants competing for each available seat, the revised merit list for Rajasthan NEET UG Counseling 2025 has heightened the competition for admission to medical and dental institutions in the state. The number of candidates deemed eligible for state quota seats has risen significantly from 13,731 in the initial counseling round to 14,452 in the updated list.

This change has introduced 721 additional contenders in the race for the highly sought-after MBBS and BDS positions. With a total of 7,110 seats available for the 2025 admissions cycle—1,442 for BDS and 5,668 for MBBS—the state comprises 1,800 seats in private colleges and 3,618 in government medical colleges. The statistics reflect intense competition, with about two candidates vying for each slot.

Raghav Garg leads the updated merit list with an impressive All India Rank of 245. Every candidate’s merit list provides comprehensive details including their name, father’s name, gender, residency status, category, NEET UG percentile, All India Rank, and overall state merit number.

In addition to the release of the amended merit list, the counseling process is continuing according to a strict timeline. The verification period concluded on August 11, confirming candidates under specific classifications such as Persons with Disabilities (PwD), wards of military and paramilitary personnel, and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) applicants. The revised provisional merit list, reflecting the outcomes of this verification process, will be disclosed on August 12.

Eligible candidates are required to pay the necessary security deposit between August 12 and August 14 and to consider their college and course preferences. This is crucial, as the preference order at this stage will greatly affect seat allocation in subsequent rounds. Candidates are being advised to choose wisely, taking into account their own priorities, category reservations, and the level of competition.

The revised merit list and updated counseling schedule reflect recent changes implemented by national and state counseling authorities due to court decisions and appeals from certain groups of candidates. These changes included requests for extended writing time and a more equitable review process from candidates with disabilities and NRIs.

Consequently, the counseling process has grown more unpredictable. Even highly qualified candidates may struggle to secure their desired government colleges because of the increased number of candidates vying for a limited number of seats. Additionally, private medical and dental institutions are expected to see greater interest as students opt for any available openings to avoid the possibility of not being accepted.

For many applicants, this stage is not just an assessment of academic performance; it also tests their planning skills, decision-making speed, and overall readiness. Candidates will first have the opportunity to influence their acceptance chances during the option-filling phase. Counseling experts recommend that candidates include a diverse range of public and private institutions in their preference lists, rather than solely concentrating on the most prestigious alternatives, to improve their chances.

The outcomes of this round will be closely observed as they will shape the direction of future counseling sessions. Given the intense competition and limited availability of seats, the allocation results will represent a pivotal moment for thousands of aspiring doctors and dentists in Rajasthan.

The implications of the updated merit list on seat allocations will remain a major focus throughout the counseling process; should any adjustments to schedules or regulations be needed to guarantee a fair and effective admissions system, the upcoming days are poised to be crucial, as thousands of students eagerly await their allocation results and prepare for the next stages of their medical career journey.
