The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) has started the counselling registration process for TS LAWCET 2025. This process allows students to gain admission into the three-year and five-year LLB programmes for the academic year 2025–2026. Candidates who passed the TS LAWCET 2025 examination can now take part in the web-based counselling by visiting the official portal, lawcetadm.tsche.ac.in.
The notification from TSCHE clearly states that eligible candidates must upload scanned copies of their original certificates for online verification. They also need to take part in the web counselling process for seat allocation in various law colleges across Telangana. No individual call letters will be sent out. Instead, the official notification will serve as the call for counselling.
The counselling will follow a detailed schedule. It began with the notification release on July 26, 2025. Candidates can register online, pay the processing fee, upload required documents, and have physical verification for special category certificates from August 8 to August 14, 2025. Special categories, including NCC, CAP (Children of Armed Personnel), PH (Physically Handicapped), and Sports, will be verified in person at the Online Counselling Centre at PGRRCDE, Osmania University, Hyderabad. Verification for CAP category certificates will happen on August 8, PH on August 11, NCC on August 12 and 13, and Sports on August 14.
After document verification, the list of verified candidates will be released on August 20, 2025. Phase I of choosing web options for preferred colleges and courses will occur from August 20 to 21. The provisional list of selected candidates will be available on August 28, 2025. After that, candidates must report to their allotted colleges for final verification of original documents and tuition fee payment from August 28 to September 2, 2025.
Admission to the law courses will strictly follow the rules set out in G.O. Ms. No. 64 dated May 26, 2006, for three-year and five-year LLB programmes, and G.O. Ms. No. 42 dated May 18, 2009, regarding seat allocation in Telangana law colleges.
Regarding eligibility, candidates must be Indian citizens and meet the local/unreserved status as outlined in G.O. Ms. No. 15 dated February 27, 2025. Of the convenor quota seats, 85% are reserved for local candidates from the Osmania University (OU) area, in line with the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulations and Admissions) Order, 1974, and its amendments. The remaining 15% are open to unreserved candidates.
To be recognized as a local candidate, one must meet one or more of the following conditions: reside in the state for at least ten years (not counting study periods outside the state), have parents who have lived in the state for ten years, be the child of a state or central government employee working within Telangana, or be the spouse of a government employee stationed in the state or working in recognized institutions.
For admission to the three-year LLB/BL programme, candidates should hold a graduation degree (in a 10+2+3 format) from a recognized university with at least 45% aggregate marks for the general category, 42% for OBC, and 40% for SC/ST applicants. Candidates who do not meet the required graduation percentage may still qualify if they have achieved equivalent or higher scores in postgraduation or BEd programmes. However, degrees obtained through single sitting or open universities without prior formal qualifications like SSC are not considered valid, according to G.O. Ms. No. 31 dated March 18, 2009.
For the five-year LLB/BL integrated programme, candidates must have passed the Intermediate examination (10+2 pattern) with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks for the general category, 42% for OBC, and 40% for SC/ST candidates. Similar to the three-year course, candidates who earned their 10+2 or higher degrees through open universities without basic qualifications like SSC are not eligible for admission.
As the registration process unfolds, candidates are strongly advised to keep track of important deadlines and ensure that all necessary documents are ready and correctly uploaded. The absence of individual counselling call letters means that candidates must treat the official notification as their only intimation and act accordingly.
The TS LAWCET 2025 counselling process marks a critical step for aspiring law students in Telangana. With the academic year 2025–26 approaching, this transparent and streamlined web-based system is expected to ensure a smooth and equitable admission process into law colleges across the state.
