Share

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the registration window for the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2025, which will admit qualified candidates to the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) at some of India’s top institutions for the 2025-26 academic year. The NCET entrance exam will be conducted on April 29, 2025, and the application for eligible candidates can be done until March 16, 2025, at 11:30 PM through the official NTA portal at exams.ntaonline.in.

The ITEP is an integrated programme in which the Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree is paired with other undergraduate courses. It is structured to provide students with the skills and knowledge required for a teaching career, as well as cover a range of education’s core areas, subject specialization, pedagogy, and school experience. The course also focuses on ability development and community service, making candidates ready for both classroom teaching and contributions to society at large. The course is overseen by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), which looks after the quality and uniformity of the program in all partner institutions.

Many central and state universities are introducing the ITEP, such as major universities such as Delhi University (DU), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Dr. BR Ambedkar University (AUD), and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IPU). The universities will take students through the NCET performance. DU, for one, is making available a total of 250 seats for ITEP, 50 seats per each of the two particular BEd programmes. Likewise, IGNOU has made available approximately 300 seats for BA-BEd (Secondary), BSc-BEd (Secondary), and BCom-BEd (Secondary) across its two units. AUD has also opened admission forms for its BA-BEd (Preparatory) and BA-BEd (Secondary) courses, with 100 seats, while IPU will have 50 seats for its BA-BEd (Secondary) course.

The NCET will take place at 64 chosen central and state universities and colleges nationwide. The test will be offered in various regional languages, such as English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu, making it accessible to students from different linguistic backgrounds. This step aligns with the NTA’s mission of extending equal opportunities to all eligible candidates irrespective of their regional language choice.

The entrance test will evaluate applicants on a variety of topics and skills required for teacher training, such as general knowledge, teaching ability, reasoning skill, and subject matter knowledge. It is intended to determine whether a candidate is prepared for the intense academic and professional challenges of the teaching profession. Successful applicants will be enrolled in ITEP courses at participating universities, where they will receive intensive training and acquire practical experience through school-based internships.

The ITEP’s integrated character is such that the candidates will not only be awarded a BEd degree but will also finish their undergraduate studies in arts, science, and commerce, thereby having a balanced educational background. This is intended to yield flexible teachers who can teach across a range of subjects, with a good grasp of pedagogy and the learning process.

For those who want to apply, it is necessary that they fulfill the eligibility requirements laid down by the NTA and the concerned universities. The interested candidates should go through the official website of the NTA to see the in-depth application procedure, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, and syllabus. The streamlined application procedure of the NTA enables candidates to upload their particulars and pay the fee for the examination through the online mode.

Finally, the NCET 2025 is an excellent chance for students who are interested in entering the profession of teaching. Through its integrated teacher education approach, the programme aims to develop highly competent, informed, and versatile educators capable of making a positive impact on the educational scene in India. With the April 29, 2025, date for the entrance exam and the registration deadline drawing near, prospective applicants are invited to submit their applications far in advance to allow for timely completion without last-minute rushes.
