Share

Uttar Pradesh state has started 2025 session practical examinations for 83 government and private sector Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) trades under its umbrella. The examinations are conducted simultaneously across India and organized in the state by the State Council of Vocational Training, Lucknow. The exams will be held from July 17 to July 22, 2025, and are a big push towards skill development and vocational training in the state.

3,157 ITIs, including government and private sector institutions, have been appointed as exam centers. The centers will be serving 503,155 trainees who will be pursuing 83 various trades. The trades have also been divided into two groups by duration: 52 are the one-year programs and 31 are the two-year trade programs. The one-year trade examinations will be held from July 17-19, and the two-year trade practicals will be held on July 21-22. Among the examinees, 296,446 are under the one-year programs, and 206,709 are under the two-year trades.

This huge exercise of the test is a reflection of the increasing significance of vocational training in Uttar Pradesh. The increase in numbers in comparison to last year is a significant success. Official figures say that this year there has been an addition of approximately 50,000 aspirants, which is a testament to a greater level of awareness and interest in youth for skill development training.

Dr. Hariom, Principal Secretary, Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Chairman, State Council of Vocational Training, has been closely monitoring the process and seeing to it that examination procedures are maintained at all districts. In his opinion, proper instructions have been given to all District Magistrates who have been instructed to depute executive magistrates and observers at the centres of exam. The aim behind this action is to preserve the integrity of the testing procedure and facilitate its free and unbiased enforcement.

Abhishek Singh, Executive Director and Special Secretary of the Council, detailed the administrative steps taken for the exams. He informed that flying squads have been constituted under the direct supervision of District Magistrates. The flying squads will make surprise inspections to keep a vigil over the proceedings and prevent any malpractice. The intention is to maintain the integrity of vocational training and remove any scope of malpractice in the exams.

Assignment of trainees to their respective exam centers has been carried out with great care so that minimal inconvenience is caused. Candidates have been assigned centers mainly nearest to their training location so that travel trouble is reduced, particularly with a view to the ongoing monsoon season. Moreover, examiners for the above-mentioned practicals have also been posted through a just and standardized process under the chairmanship of committees headed by District Magistrates. For effective monitoring and quality assessment, a maximum of 160 trainees has been assigned to every examiner.

For effective coordination of the examination process, a control room has also been established at the Council level. The control room has been functioning from 7 AM each day during the examination period. It deals with monitoring activity in all centres, settling any logistic problems, and obtaining trainee complaints redressed within time. Each examination centre is supplied with question papers and their electronic passwords electronically at 9 AM each day. The system not only guarantees uniformity in the conduct of examination material but also enhanced security against leaks or delays.

Additionally, documentation or admit card-related problems are being resolved on the spot at the concerned centres so that no trainee loses the chance to appear for the exam because of procedural failures. Centre-level officials have been empowered to take immediate decisions to resolve such problems.

Reports till 3 PM received are that the practical tests are proceeding peacefully and smoothly throughout the state. There has been no untoward incident or issue reported from any of the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh till now. The reason that there is no trouble encountered yet is the result of the thorough planning and execution on the part of the Department of Vocational Education and the district-level authorities participating in the process.

The state’s technical training focus is just one part of a broader plan to formulate a skilled workforce with the ability to fulfill industry needs and maximize employability amongst youth. Though the trainee might ascend by the year, the increasing thrust of technical education in Uttar Pradesh is unquestionable. Through such extensive and organized tests, the government is ensuring that youth not only get trained, but are also tested and certified in a way that ensures quality and credibility.
