Share

Banaras Hindu University is introducing the “Finding the Leader in You” training program in its initiative to instill the much-needed ingredient of ethical leadership among its students. It aims to develop the necessary skills of leadership with a focus on social responsibility and ethical values among students. It has been designed in association with the Competitiveness Mindset Institute. Empowering Future Leaders

The FLY program is tailor-made to raise a new generation of leaders who are highly skilled and deeply committed to the greatest standards of ethical principles. The initiative started with three batches of 110 students at the IMS for the academic session 2024-25. Students of this institute participated in the training programs from July 27 to 30, 2024. Besides these, three more batches with the participation of 120 individuals were conducted at Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Faculty of Social Sciences, and College of Nursing.

From 4th to 7th August 2024, moving further ahead, three more batches of approximately 120 students from the Institute of Agricultural Sciences are planned. The program offers huge learning exposure of a duration of three months, and by the end, immense learnings in the form of insights and skills are left with the students. Core Skills for Success The FLY trains them in the five vital skills of leadership: problem-solving, perseverance, innovation, taking initiative, and conscientiousness. Further, it provides students with an authentic opportunity to practice and apply what they have learned. On account of this, deeper knowledge will start to develop pertaining to leadership dynamics and ways of arriving at ethical decisions.

The Commitment to Holistic Development Vice-Chancellor Professor Sudhir Kumar Jain has been supportive of various initiatives targeting the all-round development of students. He believes that the FLY program forms a very strong component of this mission and will help build those qualities among the students that are imperative in their professional as well as personal life. Close to 850 students have already been trained under the FLY initiative, and the university is planning further expansion.

By continuing this new genre of training programme, BHUs occupies a high pedestal among institutions of eminence that seek to mould ethical leaders who will steer their way through the maze of contemporary society with integrity and responsibility.
