BRICS Teleconference “Bridge of Friendship” Highlights Youth Volunteering and Social Solidarity Initiatives

A BRICS teleconference

Within the Russian Children’s Center “Ocean,” a large BRICS teleconference was held under the name “Bridge of Friendship.” Young representatives of BRICS countries took part: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The children shared their experience and expressed their opinion about volunteering in the framework of additional education. In the process of the teleconference, students from India, Russia, and Egypt were given an opportunity to speak and share their views on how volunteering had helped in building social solidarity and bridged cultural and social gaps between nations.

The “Bridge of Friendship” was organized by the Russian Children’s Center “Ocean,” inviting youth representatives from #BRICS countries to share their experiences in volunteering in context of additional education.

The views of the Indian participants, comprising students from Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya, President’s Estate, were loud on the various virtues of volunteering. It was, besides being an activity of empowerment, an important means for skill-building. A number of initiatives taken by the Ministry of Education to further promote volunteerism at individual and community levels were shared.

Students from India, Russia and Egypt highlighted the importance of volunteering in fostering social solidarity and bridging gaps between the countries.

During the teleconference, the Russian and Egyptian students shared their unique experiences in volunteering and its personal development and impact on community engagements. They pointed out that such volunteering contributes to enhancing in youth empathy, leadership, and global citizenship.

Indian participants included students from Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya, President’s Estate, who emphasized volunteering as an empowering activity for skill enhancement and shared various initiatives by the Ministry of Education for encouraging volunteerism in individuals and community.

The “Bridge of Friendship” teleconference is an apt reflection of the endeavoring spirit of BRICS nations, especially at the educational and social levels within initiatives. It brought to light cross-cultural exchange and the role of youth in international cooperation processes. From this event, many more such initiatives are also likely to draw inspiration from the aspects discussed hereby and hence forth strengthen the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding among BRICS countries.
