The program also serves professionals looking to enhance and deepen their expertise in the EV/HEV sector.

The certificate program integrates key concepts including thermodynamics, internal combustion engines, electric machines and drives, power electronics, automotive hybridization, and battery design and modeling.

IIT Delhi now offers a new certificate program in Hybrid Electric Vehicles Design, which aimed to address the growing demand for specialized knowledge in the rapidly advancing domain of vehicle electrification. It was part of IIT Delhi’s objective to address the paradigm shift of the automotive industry toward sustainability and innovation.

This new certificate program will run for six months, aimed at providing engineers with a solid background in EV and HEV technology. Basically, the course targets professional individuals with backgrounds in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, and related engineering fields. More specifically, it has been specially designed for those people currently working within the EV/HEV industry who want to enhance their knowledge base and keep up-to-date with the technology.

According to the press release from IIT Delhi, the curriculum of the certificate program in HEV design has been designed with a very comprehensive range of topics, absolutely relevant. In the ambit, participants will be educated about thermodynamics lying at the core of understanding the principles of energy conversion and efficiency in vehicles. That apart, internal combustion engines and how they can be integrated with electric propulsion systems to provide an overall view of hybrid powertrains will be discussed.

It will also involve the study of electric machines and drives, which are an intrinsic part of the operation of electric and hybrid vehicles. Another critical area that would be covered under this program is power electronics, which is related to the conversion and management of electrical power in these vehicles. The program also includes automotive hybridization, a critical area that concerns the integration of several power sources to optimize the vehicle’s performance and efficiency.

It will inherently incorporate battery design and modeling as a core part of the course, for it is an important factor in performance and range of e HMS and hybrid vehicles. Battery technology has an essential place in vehicle design; therefore, understanding its features and consequences is fundamental to driving innovation in the sector.

The program has been designed to take a comprehensive view of the technology driving man’s future transport. This program should be able to help participants actively contribute to the further development of sustainable automotive technologies through the integration of very diversified areas, most of which are interrelated fields of study.

The program places IIT Delhi at the top of innovations in automotive education, catering to the pressing demands of professionals who can manage vehicle electrification. This would, therefore, make this program the prime mover of innovation and progress in the automotive sector, proving to be synchronous with the global trends toward a more sustainable and efficient transport solution.
