Success stories in 2023
Last year’s Civil Services Examination results have been inspiring, starting with Hemant from Haryana, who secured the 884th rank despite trying circumstances. Born to a laborer family, Hemant overcame socioeconomic barriers to achieve success in his second attempt.
Very similarly, PK Sidharth Ramkumar, AIR 4 in 2023, talked how his architecture background helped him excel in solving problems during preparation. Sidharth emphasized that clarity, confidence and articulation are most important while the interview round.
Focus on Residential Coaching Academies
The Residential Coaching Academies (RCAs) of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) remain important institutions in preparing future civil servants. Last year, three candidates from AMU and 31 from JMI’s coaching programs were selected in the final list, which shows how structured guidance is important in competitive exams.
A recent parliamentary committee report noted an increase in joining civil services from doctors and engineers, but a declining trend in joining civil services from humanities backgrounds over the years. This indicates that civil services talent pool is changing.
The final stage of the CSE process 2024 process will be declaration after the interview results, through marks, cut-offs and answer keys. UPSC would release results as scheduled to bring joy to the aspirations of those candidates who get to work for their motherland.
