The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has come out with recruitment notice for the posts of faculties at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), New Delhi. The institute, which trains Indian diplomats and foreign service officers, is issuing advertisements inviting application from eligible persons for joining the institution’s distinguished faculty. Interested candidates can send in their application by email or through registered post. The deadline for application is February 20, 2025, and shortlisted candidates’ interviews will take place on February 22, 2025, at the MEA office.
There are four faculty posts announced, and the job also carries an assortment of responsibilities. SSIFS’s faculty will have to work as course coordinators for various training programs so that the training courses are well-designed and effectively conveyed. Apart from this, they will have the responsibility to deliver lectures for the different programs organized by the institute. To create and develop training material and pedagogy will be among the most important parts of the job, whereby the courses continue to be of relevance and help in providing knowledge and skills necessary for diplomats.
In addition to teaching duties, the faculty members will also contribute to policy and research paper preparation when necessary. This part of the job is vital since research has a significant contribution to foreign policy debate and improving the quality of diplomatic training. The assessment of trainees will be another major responsibility, with the aim of ensuring that they attain the necessary standards and competencies required of them.
For candidates to qualify for these positions, they should satisfy certain conditions. First, they should be Indians and possess a PhD in any of the suitable fields, including International Relations, Political Science, History, Management, Economics, International Law, or related disciplines from a reputed university. A PhD is mandatory to ensure that the recruited teaching staff are strong academicians and can share detailed information to trainees.
In addition, the candidates should have a minimum of ten years of experience in teaching or research. This long experience is essential because the position requires high levels of expertise in international affairs and policy-making. The ability to speak and write English is also an essential requirement since the faculty members will be interacting with trainees in academic discourse, research work, and policy development. Furthermore, candidates must be proficient in IT usage, which is essential in today’s digital learning environment. The age limit for applicants is 45 years, meaning candidates should not exceed this age on the last date of submission of applications.
The process of application is available through both online and offline channels. For applicants who are using the online application process, the candidates are required to write an email with the subject line explicitly stating their name and the job they are applying for. They should include a filled-up application form and all supporting documents required, such as certificates attesting to their educational background and professional experience. The email must then be submitted to [email protected] prior to the deadline.
For candidates who want to apply offline, the procedure is to gather all documents necessary, such as copies of educational credentials and experience. These must be put inside an envelope that bears the inscription “Application for the post of faculty member at Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service in the Ministry of External Affairs.” The filled application should be forwarded through registered post to the following address:
