Shaheed Diwas:The Tribute day

Share

Shaheed Diwas, also known as Martyrs’ Day, is observed annually in India on March 23rd to commemorate the sacrifice made by three freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru, who were hanged to death by the British colonial government in 1931.

Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru were members of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) and were involved in various revolutionary activities aimed at ending British colonial rule in India. They were arrested for their role in the Lahore Conspiracy Case and were sentenced to death by the British court.

Shaheed Diwas is observed as a day of remembrance and tribute to the sacrifice made by Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru, and all the other freedom fighters who fought for India’s independence. On this day, the President, the Prime Minister, and other political leaders pay homage to the martyrs at their memorials. Many educational institutions and organizations also organize events and programs to remember the sacrifices made by these great leaders.
