Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar described India’s upcoming rise as a rocket defying gravitational forces, highlighting the country’s exponential economic expansion and rising global prominence.

Highlighting India’s development over the last decade, Vice President Dhankhar emphasised that global organisations now seek India’s advice, a considerable departure from the past when they advised the country. He ascribed this accomplishment to India’s transparent and accountable government architecture, which has resulted in extraordinary economic growth.

“The era of India as a ‘sleeping giant’ is over. “Our rise is incremental, unstoppable, and recognised globally,” Dhankhar stated, emphasising the critical importance of education in attaining national equality and growth. He praised higher education institutions as critical to achieving India’s objective of being a developed nation by 2047, the centennial of its independence.

Reflecting on India’s economic trajectory, Dhankhar highlighted that, after falling behind cities like London and Paris in the 1990s, India today outperforms economies like the United Kingdom and France. He urged schools to promote interdisciplinary learning, corporate collaborations, and a curriculum that prioritises innovation and societal ideals.

“As architects of tomorrow’s India, higher educational institutions must imbue students with not only knowledge but also the skills and ethos necessary to tackle global challenges,” Dhankhar asserted. He advocated for a balance between conserving India’s rich cultural legacy and adopting global best practices, encouraging young people to take pride in their civilizational roots while training to be global citizens.

Dhankhar’s presentation ended with a call to action, characterising ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) as a holy cause that requires collaborative effort and grassroots participation. He advised future leaders to remain engaged to the genuine difficulties that their fellow people experience, emphasising the need of accessible, cheap, and long-term solutions in nation building.

In essence, Vice President Dhankhar’s address at NMIMS served as a rallying cry for educational institutions to design a future in which India’s ascent is defined by inclusive growth, innovation, and global leadership in the next decades.
