The State Bank of India (SBI), the largest public sector bank in the country, has started the recruitment process for Junior Associates (Customer Support and Sales), often referred to as SBI Clerk. This recruitment drive for 2025 aims to fill 6,589 vacancies, which include both regular and backlog positions across various branches. The announcement has generated excitement among banking hopefuls nationwide, as the SBI Clerk position is highly desirable due to its stability, benefits, and potential for career growth.
According to the official notification on the SBI Careers portal, interested candidates can apply online through the bank’s website at sbi.co.in. The application process began on August 6, 2025, and will close on August 26, 2025. This provides candidates with a 20-day window to complete their applications. It’s recommended that candidates apply early to avoid any last-minute server issues or delays.
To qualify for the SBI Clerk 2025 recruitment, applicants must be between 20 and 28 years old as of April 1, 2025. This means that the candidate’s birth date should fall between April 2, 1997, and April 1, 2005, inclusive. According to government guidelines, candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation.
Candidates must have a graduation degree in any field from a recognized university. Final-year students can also apply, but only provisionally. They must provide valid proof of graduation by December 31, 2025. Those with an integrated dual degree must ensure their date of passing meets the eligibility criteria.
The application process is entirely online. Candidates should visit the official SBI website, go to the ‘Careers’ section, and click on ‘Current Openings’. They need to find the link titled ‘Recruitment of Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) 2025’ to start their application. This involves registering with basic information such as name, email ID, and mobile number. After successful registration, applicants must log in, fill out the application form, upload necessary documents (including a passport-size photograph, signature, thumb impression, and a handwritten declaration), and pay the application fee.
The application fee for this recruitment is Rs 750 for candidates in the General, OBC, and EWS categories. Candidates from SC, ST, and PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) categories do not have to pay any application fee.
The selection process for SBI Clerk 2025 will take place in three stages. The first phase is the Preliminary Examination, which will be an objective test worth 100 marks and lasting 1 hour. This is a qualifying round, and only those who pass it can move on to the next stage. The second phase is the Main Examination, which has 190 questions for a total of 200 marks. The main exam lasts 2 hours and 40 minutes, and scores from this stage are crucial for the final merit list.
The final stage is the Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT). This test is mandatory for all candidates who did not study the local language for their Class 10 or Class 12 education. Candidates who can provide proof of studying the language at school are exempt from this test. This stage ensures that selected candidates can communicate effectively with customers in the local language.
The SBI Clerk role involves interacting with customers and assisting with routine banking operations, customer support, and sales. While it is seen as an entry-level position in the bank, it provides many opportunities for promotion and career growth.
Candidates should carefully read the official notification on the SBI Careers portal for complete information about the recruitment process, exam syllabus, and regional language requirements. Given the expected competition, timely applications and thorough preparation will be vital for those aiming to secure a position in this prestigious organization.
