The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow( IIM Lucknow) has achieved a significant  corner by securing the 5th position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework( NIRF) 2025 under the ‘ Management’  order. This marks an  enhancement of two places compared to its 7th position in the 2024 rankings. With this achievement, IIM Lucknow now stands 4th among all Indian Institutes of Management( IIMs) in the country.   

The NIRF Rankings 2025 were officially released on September 4 by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Education, Government of India. This time marks the 10th edition of the NIRF rankings, which were first introduced in 2015 to  estimate and  standard advanced education institutions across India.   Speaking at the release event, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan complimented all  sharing institutions on their performance. He  stressed the growing significance of quality  marks in advanced education and the  part rankings play in  icing competitiveness. “ From 16  orders last time to 17 this time, the expansion of NIRF Rankings reflects India’s growing diversity in the advanced education sector. A robust ranking  frame and  delegation system wo n’t only enhance competitiveness but also play a vital  part in nation-  structure. While our  scholars contribute significantly to global  husbandry, we must also reflect on how this  gift can further strengthen the lives of common people in India. structure institutions of global character is important, but making them instruments of  public development is inversely critical, ” he said.

Gupta, expressed his satisfaction at the institute’s  bettered performance. “ IIM Lucknow’s performance in the NIRF 2025 Rankings highlights our ongoing commitment to academic excellence and societal impact. This recognition reflects the  fidelity of our faculty,  scholars, staff, and alumni in  erecting a dynamic  literacy  terrain. IIM Lucknow sees this achievement as a stepping gravestone toward indeed lesser  pretensions. Our focus remains on advancing high- quality  exploration, fostering assiduity collaboration, enhancing pupil experience, and  heightening global engagement.  The NIRF  frame evaluates institutions on several  crucial parameters, including tutoring, Learning and coffers( TLR), Research and Professional Practice( RPC), scale issues( GO), Outreach and Inclusivity( OI), and Perception. Each parameter is assigned a score, which contributes to the final overall ranking.   For 2025, IIM Lucknow  entered a total score of 77.97 in the  operation  order, securing its 5th place nationally. The institute’s detailed scores across parameters are as follows Teaching, Learning & coffers – 86.37, Research and Professional Practice – 59.80, scale issues – 96.96, Outreach and Inclusivity – 71.82, and Perception – 75.51.   

The scores reflect strong performance in several areas, particularly scale issues, where IIM Lucknow has achieved a near-perfect score, indicating the strength of its placement record and alumni success. The institute also performed well in Teaching, Learning and coffers,  emphasizing its emphasis on academic quality and  literacy  structure.   IIM Lucknow, established in 1984, is one of the premier  operation institutes in India and was the fourth IIM to be set up in the country. Over the times, it has  constantly been  honored among the top institutions in  operation education and  exploration. The  rearmost  enhancement in its NIRF ranking further reinforces its standing as a leader in the sector.   

The 2025 edition of the NIRF marks a decade since the  frame was first launched. This time, 17  orders were  estimated, compared to 16 in 2024, with institutions assessed on their performance in areas critical to advanced education and  exploration. The rankings continue to serve as a  standard for  scholars, parents, and policymakers in understanding the quality and competitiveness of Indian institutions in a  fleetly globalizing education  geography.   

IIM Lucknow’s  bettered ranking also highlights the broader trend of Indian  operation institutions decreasingly  fastening on  exploration affair, assiduity collaboration, inclusivity, and global engagement.
