The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has announced a major recruitment drive for 2025. They are inviting applications for a total of 4,543 positions across various roles. These include 4,242 posts for Sub-Inspectors (Civil Police), 135 posts for Platoon Commanders in the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and 60 posts for Fire Brigade Platoon Commanders. There are also several roles in the Special Forces for women in Lucknow and Gorakhpur. This recruitment is a significant opportunity for candidates as the state government has granted a three-year age relaxation for all categories during this cycle.
The application process for the vacancies has already started. Candidates can apply online until September 11, 2025, without a late fee. If they miss this deadline, there is a second chance until September 13, 2025, but a late fee will apply. Candidates must first complete a One-Time Registration (OTR), which began on July 31, 2025. This step makes sure the recruitment process is organized and centralized for all applicants. According to recent data, over 3.5 lakh applicants have registered so far, indicating a highly competitive selection process ahead.
Looking at the vacancies, the Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) positions are available for both men and women. Of the 4,242 posts, 1,705 are for the Unreserved (UR) category, 421 for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 1,143 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 890 for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 83 for Scheduled Tribes (ST). These numbers show the state’s commitment to reservation policies and offer a range of opportunities across different social categories.
For the Platoon Commander positions in the PAC, which are open only to male candidates, there are 135 vacancies. This includes 56 posts for the UR category, 13 for EWS, 36 for OBC, 28 for SC, and 2 for ST candidates. The recruitment also has openings for Fire Brigade Platoon Commanders and positions in women’s Special Forces units in Lucknow and Gorakhpur. This highlights the UP Police’s focus on strengthening specialized divisions.
The selection process is thorough and multi-step. It begins with a written exam to assess candidates’ knowledge and skills for police work. Those who pass the written test will proceed to document verification, where their qualifications will be carefully reviewed. Next, candidates must undergo a physical standards test, checking their height, chest measurement, and weight.
After passing these initial stages, candidates will face the physical efficiency test. This is a crucial step that evaluates their endurance, agility, and overall fitness. The UPPRPB has stressed the importance of fairness and integrity during this phase, with strict rules against using steroids, drugs, or banned substances. Any candidate caught with such substances will be disqualified and might also face legal consequences.
Identity verification will be rigorous to prevent impersonation and fraud. During the testing phase, biometric verification will be conducted. This includes photo capture, fingerprint scanning, and iris scanning. These will be matched with Aadhaar-based e-KYC data to ensure authenticity. Furthermore, candidates must upload a recent passport-size photograph as part of their application, which will be used for verification throughout the selection stages.
The UPPRPB’s recruitment drive happens as the state aims to expand and modernize its police force. By providing positions in various categories and specialized units, the board hopes to strengthen law enforcement capabilities, improve public safety, and promote diversity within the police ranks. The addition of women-specific roles in Special Forces units also emphasizes the growing focus on gender representation and operational flexibility in the state’s policing framework.
With thousands of positions available, a fair selection process, and additional age relaxation benefits, this recruitment is likely to draw many applicants from Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas. The UPPRPB encourages all interested candidates to carefully read the detailed notification on its official website, uppbpb.gov.in, and confirm they meet all eligibility criteria before applying. Given the intense competition and strict selection stages, candidates should start their preparation early, focusing on both knowledge and physical fitness.
In summary, the UP Police Recruitment 2025 represents one of the most significant hiring initiatives in law enforcement in recent years. It offers a valuable opportunity for dedicated individuals to serve the state while building a secure and fulfilling career in the police force.
